Fantastic Rooms, lounge, bar, and lobby have plenty of sitting areas, modern, up-to-date, and clean. Staff are polite and helpful. Breakfast has plenty of choices. Bar is good. Location a little far from the city center; otherwise safe.

Fantastic We had a great stay at the Renaissance Lapa Hotel.
The room was amazing, large and well furnished, with a desk, chair, and a chaise longue. The shower room was always supplied with clean towels, soap, shampoo, etc, and even face flannels. We did not use the AC as it gives us a headache, but were able to leave the window open, and the curtains, despite the bright mornings, and slept very well.
The breakfast spread catered for any kind of diet; it was infinite, in theory, and you could eat either very healthily or unhealthily, if you wanted to. We ate at the restaurant once, and the food was deliberately fancy, and tasted incredible. It is really great to have the option not to go far after a day of sightseeing, but for the food to be as good is a real bonus.
The rooftop pool is good, although there were never really enough sunbeds for such a large hotel. We may have used it more if there had been. Still, a nice pool, great to cool down in hot weather.
The staff throughout are wonderful: friendly, efficient, polite and very very helpful at all times, especially the waiting staff.
The hotel is in walking distance to some nice bars and restaurants. It is also 2 minutes from the Metro, and you can get into the city centre in a matter of minutes.
All in all, I recommend the hotel, and would love to stay there again.

Fantastic Hotel was lovely and the staff helpful and friendly. Located right next to Lapa station on the metro made it really easy transport from the airport. A bit of a way out of the centre but easy to get places via a short uber.

Deeply disappointed with our stay at the Renaissance Porto. The extra bed in our room had bed bugs, and my youngest daughter was bitten. What made the experience worse was management's response, rather than acknowledging the issue and making it right, they refused to take responsibility.
At a hotel of this class and price point, bed bugs simply should not happen. And when something does go wrong, the bare minimum expectation is that management owns the problem and delivers impeccable service to resolve it. Instead, we were met with denial.
I cannot recommend this property to families or anyone expecting the standard of care the Renaissance brand promises.

GreatStayed with kids
Comfortable hotel with good amenities such as rooftop pool and bar area, large gym and convenient underground parking. Rooms are nicely decorated and feel new, but overall were relatively basic with no mini bar items or bathroom amenities provided in the room. Location is good, just outside of the busy central area but only 15 mins walk away.
Breakfast was an expensive addition that we didn’t opt for, and the on-site restaurant also seemed to be priced on the high side, not ideal for a young family so we chose to eat outside during our stay.

FantasticStayed with family
Our room was ready early when we arrived and was spotless. The staff immediately helped us upon arrival as well. All staff was very friendly, including the concierge, bellmen, and wait staff at the pool. The sommelier at the restaurant was knowledgeable and made for a great dining experience in the hotel.
