What to expect
Kathmandu's bazaars are a thing of beauty: it's the moving pulse of the locals in action, full of color, sound, and culture. Experience the bazaars for yourself with this two and half hour walking tour with the help of a local English speaking guide! Meet up with the guide at the Electric Pagoda Cafe for some refreshments to strengthen you for the journey ahead. First walk along the Asan Tole and Indra Chowk bazaars, two of the largest in the city. Spread in all directions are wares of almost every kind, from food to textiles, to jewelry and local craft souvenirs. As you admire the Newari style buildings with their terraces, and the Asan Tole crossroads, the guide will explain how local farmers bring in their produce and how each of the streets have segregated themselves according to the wares sold. After traversing these glittering streets, visit the Nyalon or Fish Stone, with the colors and flowers still upon it, before you head to the beautiful Annapurna Ajima Temples and the Aksh Bhairab Shine. See the remains of Yita Chapo and get a chance to visit the courtyards of Takse Baha, Kwathu Baha, Haku Baha, Dhalasikna Baha, Dagu Baha, Asan Baha and Hwakha Baha. All these things are parting and parcel of the culture in Kathmandu, including the sacred cows that might be wandering during your trip. It's an eye-opening look into local everyday life and religious culture.

Reviews
amazing service provided 👍🏻 my guide suren toured me around and he had an extensive knowledge around kathmandu. i could say i got more value than i paid for as he toured me around more places than what I booked. highly recommend his expertise and will book again
It's literally a walking tour. The bazaar was near to my hotel, so we just walked to and from the hotel. Too bad I booked a 2-way transfers, but the guide let me walk. But it's still ok. I enjoyed the whole tour because it is still learning the daily lives of the locals.
The tour guide is very friendly. I was the only one joining on the tour that day and the guide made sure that I had fun on the tour. Really recommend it!
The tour guide introduced the history of each place and temple very carefully and meticulously, and also took me to different markets and introduced what could be bought in the markets.
It was fun! Done during the rush hours and truly experience the life of the locals. The guide Ramkumar was good and took care of me throughout the walk. A wonderful experience
I took a few tours in kathmandu while I was there, Kumar was the only guide that actually gave me some history of Nepal and applied it to the places we visited. we wrapped up the tour a little early and Kumar helped me find some souvenirs which was a huge bonus! 11/10 would recommend.
This itinerary is a fantastic choice for first-time visitors who want to get a good feel for the city! However, your experience can really vary depending on the agency and tour guides you go with. Unfortunately, my recent experience wasn’t the best. My tour guide arrived 30 minutes late and didn’t provide much in the way of introductions or client care. It seemed like he was more focused on finding gifts for himself and his family instead. I would recommend looking for a local agency or another option for a more enjoyable experience!
I asked for a pick-up, but the guide picked me up by motorcycle because I was alone, so I liked it better haha I couldn't understand it well because my English is short, but he kindly understood. He said it was really delicious.
The tour has a great concept, however, the experience really depends on the guide you get. I had to wait while the guide shopped personally and ate snacks. At temples, there were no explanations; I had to ask questions myself. The guide walked ahead quickly and rarely checked on me. I later noticed that the tour info stated bottled water was included, but it wasn't provided.
I am the only one joining the tour that day. The tour guide did explain the market and background briefly. However, it feels like I have to ask tons of questions to know what's going on... I expect him to be more proactive when it comes to a local tour mentioning what the market has, which is more worth noting, what the locals are buying etc...
