Reviews
super insightful experience as a major lover of red miso. the package is worth it if you find the shirt and apron useful! but for me i would have rather just the miso and meal. regardless, it was a super hearty and yummy meal 🥰
the tour guide which is the owner of the factory speaks very good english and is very clear in his explantion. the food served was delicious. definitely recommend to any one who likes to know more about miso and taste the food
the tour itself is free (pls see my third photo), but this is still value for money because 1) really good purchases (500g 3-yr miso), limited edition apron and t-shirts) and 2) a really good and hearty lunch which needs to reserved in advance rather than on the spot. the guide is the fourth generation owner who can explain well in English. the price is reasonable. highly recommended.
you can take this tour for free, but with this experience you get what was one of the best meals I had, where you can try different misos, and a bag full of goodies (with miso of course) to take home.
I had a wonderful experience joining this tour. The tour guide who is the current CEO of the miso brewery explained to the guests about miso. After the guide, i had lunch featuring the miso that they had crafted in the warehouse. Totally recommend!
Not sure if it was intended but my tour guide was the miso company’s CEO who spoke great english. Lunch was really nice, all the items were made with miso. At the end you also get a bag of goodies: a shirt, a jar of their 3 year aged miso, etc. Definitely check it out if you are in Matsumoto.
This is a tour where you arrive yourself. It is very informative as it is run by a 6th generation family member who speaks great English and who knows the science and art of miso very well. The tour took just over 30 minutes and was followed by a delicious lunch. We were also given show bags as a bonus- Im not sure whether that always happens or whether it was because it was New Year. Highly recommend- we went to art gallery beforehand which is 5 min walk.
This was our favorite part of our visit to Matsumoto. The tour was informative, easy to understand and so interesting. We started analyzing and comparing every miso soup we had on the rest of our trip after this. haha The lunch was delicious in a lovely setting. Highly recommend!
The tour was excellent, and given by the big boss himself! His English was excellent. I appreciated him taking the time to answer our questions and taking us through the process step by step, not just in his factory but also on miso production in Japan as a whole. The lunch was exceptional, the flavours perfectly balanced. The staff was courteous throughout and the gift bag was very well thought out. I enjoyed my time here and highly recommend this experience. Excellent value and a high quality experience.
Really great experience! The owner/president of the factory led the tour (in English) and explained the traditional miso-making process. The tour was about 30 minutes, and then afterward, we had lunch at the small restaurant on site. Lunch was a set menu, with each of the dishes using various miso products they make. It was really delicious (note: it did contain pork), and even my picky child loved it. Highly recommended.
