What to expect
"The works that Chi Po-lin risked his life to film over the past 25 years must be seen and continue to inspire those who live on this land!" It is with this belief that the Chi Po-lin Foundation has been urging forward, and it has also moved 8,052 co-builders to generously support it. Thus, in 2019, the "Chi Po-lin Space" was officially opened in Tamsui, bringing together more than 600,000 precious images by Director Chi. Each year, it tells stories about the land through different thematic exhibitions. It also collaborates with domestic and foreign ecological and environmental image creators from time to time. Through exchanges and dialogues, it continues to expound and spread the true meaning of being friendly to the land and caring for life, constructing an image base and dream-building platform gathered around "Taiwan stories."
Taiwan is an island embraced by forests, with a forest coverage rate of up to 60%, which is twice the global average. The Tropic of Cancer lies across it, and the mountains are continuous, nurturing a rich and diverse forest ecology. Countless lives are sheltered by the forest, and we are one of them. As the threat of climate change approaches step by step, “net-zero emissions” is the way to balance that humanity is looking for, and “sustainability” is the future we look forward to. Staring at the changes of nature and human imprints is hoping to seek humility once again, and we coexist in the forest. This exhibition is named “Symbiosis with Forests”, and the exhibition area is divided into four exhibition areas: “Source of Forests”: Tells the origin story of forests. “Realm of Forests”: Contemporary issues and dilemmas of forests. “Forest Continuous”: See how people change the way they treat forests. “Becoming a Broad Chi Po-lin”: The story and collection of Director Chi Po-lin. We sincerely invite you to visit and see the story of this land through images, and become a part of protecting the forest!
