What to expect
Close to sea and mountains, Kanazawa has earned its reputation as a culinary powerhouse with some of the best fresh produce in Japan. With your local host as a menu decipherer, sample street food at Omicho Market (the “Kitchen of Kanazawa”) – crunchy seafood- or veggie-filled Omicho croquettes are famous for being some of the best in the country and fried, skewered squid is always a treat. Cool down with Kanazawa’s glittering gold leaf ice-cream, and tuck into Kanazawa-style curry (a rich, gooey sauce served with a pork cutlet) or Hanton rice – fried rice under a blanket of runny omelet. Head to your host’s favorite izakaya and savor some of Japan’s freshest sashimi with a cold beer, and if you still have room? Try some local craft gins and craft beers!

Reviews
Rimiko-san felt more like a friend than a tour guide. A real local (and restaurant owner herself) she knows many of the stall holders in Omicho Market. It was great to have the contact with her before the trip to plan. After eating and drinking our way around the market, we bought sweets for a picnic in the castle grounds before heading to a local restaurant for an amazing omakase lunch. I loved the experience and would thoroughly recommend this to anyone coming to Kanazawa.
We went to the fish market and I tried several snack's and a local beer. I really liked the street food and that it were different animals and cooking method's, that was great so I didn't eat the same cooking method. I liked the explanation of the geishas and the guide and also the golden leaf ice cream. My guide was well informed about the history and explained it well and tried to get it interesting. The Samurai home whit the tee was great, was the first time driving that Macha Tee. The Kanazawa Hot Dogs 🐕 was good. Over all I had a good experience.
Our guide Gucci was very knowledgeable and well spoken. The history she told us about Kanazawa was much appreciated. She took us to a make your own sushi roll restaurant, which was fun. We then walked through two geisha districts and ended up at a lovely café. There was no need to eat dinner after the tour. We recommend Gucci highly.
our guide Megumi was a delight. she carefully listened and developed a bespoke tour designed around our interests. we found places we wouldn’t have on our own. her historical knowledge was fascinating (not too much at all!) and she pointed out great places to take photos. very much recommend this tour.
Lucy was great! We were a large group with a huge age range (5-79), and one person who couldn’t walk far distances. She worked very hard to find a place that would accommodate us all (the day after Christmas no less!) but that would also us to try the local cusine. Although we were not able to do the traditional food walking tour- we nonetheless had a wonderful time and got to experience local Kanazawan foods.
The tour was an experience, Akari was very attentive and organised getting in contact with me well before the trip to organise what I wanted to see. on the day weather was a little wet but Akari made it all work had great knowledge of the area and its history and new where all the places to go where, the after recommended where of great help planned the next day in my stay in Kanazawa. I would recommend this tour to anyone that likes food and history
