What to expect
The sacred ritual of alms giving takes place every morning in Luang Prabang, and you will be able to take parting in this mystical tradition through this unique experience. Through a pickup at your hotel, you will be transported to the location where you will be best able to witness a procession of three hundred young monks, walking silently in the early morning, and humbly begging for their daily meal. They collect sticky rice into their bowls, and whatever food offering that the local people may give. This is a ritual steeped in religion and virtues of humility, and you will be able to take parting in this sacred experience by also being able offer up some food for the monks as well. Beyond the regular tour, this experience is fulfilling and offers you new insight into Buddhism. Take a side trip to a local market and immerse yourself in the engaged mornings of the locals before being dropped off back to your hotel.

Alms giving is an eye-opening ceremony.. the morning market visit after the ceremony is a mini food tour, where we go to try different types of food.. we love it! The guide was patience and helped us took many great pics,
A magical experience watching and participating in the giving of the morning alms to the monks in Luang Prabang followed by delicious coffee overlooking the Mekong and a walk through the morning market with our amazing guide Anong Nong. Anong was engaging, informed spoke English well and showed us a lovely morning - many thanks you for the awesome experience.
This was an incredible activity that you could do locally along with the community. I was picked up on time, and Alex, my tour guide, had been very welcoming, friendly, and making sure I had a wonderful time. This was humbling experience for me to say the least. After the ceremony, we went to see the market but it was raining so had to find shelter and went for coffee. This was the real bonus for me having such a tour guide with recommendations where to find places where I could have authentic experience. Thank you.
highly recommended. the guides were on time. they were very helpful and friendly. the experience was unique in its own ways. the rice to be given to the monks was prepared by the guide so no need to worry. after the morning giving alms ceremony, we went to the local morning market and saw many interesting local goods and produce, including mini tiny crabs
Very interesting tour. Our tour guide was great! It was raining so instead of the market we visited a coffee shop and were able to talk and learn lots about Laos history. Highly recommend!
Incredible experience. Our guide Anong gave us previous information and answer all our questions with a smile 😊. Definitely worth tour and great guide.
The whole process of as really smooth from hotel pick up, to alms giving (food already prepared) and ending up with a tour in the morning market. Staff was friendly, but I thought the package price is a bit on the higher side in retrospect
It was an excellent tour thanks to our guide, Nong. The tour started earlier than the original schedule but Nong informed me via WhatsApp as soon as he woke up. Nong picked out the spot and arranged sticky rice offerings for us. He was very knowledgeable and explained the Giving Alms ritual. The coffee by the river and the walk through the morning market were very interesting as well. Nong bought snacks and shared with all of us. Def. recommended.
I was able to experience offering food at a temple and the early morning market. The offering experience in particular was a valuable experience as I was able to experience the local culture first-hand!
We’ve got impressed experience during arms giving. After ceremony, visiting morning market it quit similar but bit deferent with night market. More fresh food is there. Good experience in town.
