What to expect
Go Beyond the Tourist Trail and Meet the Real Jeju
Begin your journey at Haenyeo’s Kitchen in Jongdal with an immersive performance inspired by the lives of Jeju’s haenyeo. Discover their courage, struggles, and everyday lives through storytelling, performance, and food.
Then, learn about the seafood haenyeo bring back from the sea and enjoy a warm meal filled with the jeong (정) of Jeju—the warmth and generosity shared among haenyeo and their community.
After your meal, follow the story to a real haenyeo’s home in Jongdal Village. Meet a haenyeo, hear her personal stories and wisdom, and discover what it means to live alongside the sea.
From the stage, to the sea, to the table, and into her home—experience the real Jeju.
Good to know
- Come with an open mind and curiosity. The more you listen, the more stories you will discover.
- Respect the home as you would your own. The haenyeo’s home is a real living space, not a museum.
