Guide

  • The Tengwang Pavilion Scenic Area is located on the banks of the Gan River in Donghu District, Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province. It is a national 5A-level tourist attraction and one of the "Three Great Pavilions of Jiangnan" renowned both at home and abroad. This place has been famous for centuries due to "Preface to the Pavilion of Prince Teng" by Wang Bo, a talented scholar of the early Tang Dynasty. The line "A lone wild duck flies with the sunset glow, and the autumn water shares the same color with the vast sky" remains an eternal ode to the beautiful autumn scenery of Jiangnan. The scenic area centers around the main Tengwang Pavilion, which features flying eaves and upturned corners, exuding a magnificent and imposing aura. It perfectly blends the grandeur of Tang and Song dynasty architecture with the delicate beauty of classical Jiangnan gardens, making it a landmark historical and cultural icon for Nanchang and even the entire Jiangxi Province.
  • When visitors come to Tengwang Pavilion, they can ascend the high pavilion during the day, appreciating murals and cultural exhibits with different themes on each floor. Standing on the corridors, they can overlook the magnificent scenery on both banks of the Gan River and the bustling skyline of the modern city. In recent years, the scenic area has also launched a special cultural activity where visitors can get free admission by reciting "Preface to the Pavilion of Prince Teng," attracting countless enthusiasts of traditional Chinese culture to take on the challenge. In addition, the ancient musical instrument performances and chime bell performances inside the pavilion are also highly distinctive, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the courtly elegance and profound heritage of the prosperous Tang Dynasty amidst the sounds of silk and bamboo instruments.
  • As night falls, Tengwang Pavilion transforms into another splendid facade. The large-scale live performance "Dreaming of Tengwang Pavilion" utilizes advanced sound, light, and electricity technology to vividly recreate the historical vicissitudes and literary anecdotes since the pavilion's construction amidst intertwining light and shadow. Visitors can also choose to take a cruise on the Gan River at night, looking back at the brilliantly lit Tengwang Pavilion and the dazzling night view of both banks of the river as the river breeze caresses their faces. Whether one wants to trace the literary footsteps of historical figures or appreciate the urban charm of modern Nanchang, Tengwang Pavilion is an unmissable cultural destination.
