Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge Scenic Area is located in Qinhua Town, Wuyuan County, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province. It was first built in the Southern Song Dynasty, with a history of over 800 years, making it one of the oldest, longest, and best-preserved covered bridges in ancient Huizhou. The bridge's name is derived from the Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai's verse, "Two waters embrace a bright mirror, a pair of bridges fall like rainbows," and it has been hailed by numerous media outlets and ancient architecture scholars as "China's most beautiful covered bridge." It is not only a practical thoroughfare connecting both banks but also a highly iconic historical and cultural landmark in Wuyuan's northern tourist route.

The entire Rainbow Bridge spans over 140 meters and is composed of eleven wooden covered pavilions. Its most significant architectural feature is the use of semi-boat-shaped bridge piers constructed from dressed stones. This design not only effectively mitigates the immense impact of mountain floods but also showcases the ancient people's outstanding architectural wisdom and practical aesthetics. Visitors strolling along the ancient covered bridge can quietly admire the crystal-clear river below and the picturesque Huizhou-style residences on both banks, which complement each other beautifully.
