Reviews summaryAmazing tour. Ian was a great tour guide, very knowledgeable and entertaining throughout the whole drive to the ferry. A must do if your travelling to Milford sound. The captain of the ferry was also very entertaining, thank you RealNZ team for such an amazing experience. Highly recommend this tour and will be booking future experiences with RealNZ.
Wonderful tour experience! We had Paulie as our bus driver and guide and he was super friendly and knowledgeable about the whole route, sharing fun facts about the different stops and sights along the way + the bus ride was smooth and really comfortable. The cruise experience was amazing too, we managed to catch a bunch of different sights as it had rained prior and it was overall a really magical and beautiful experience. The cruise also had a cafe with some food & drinks for lunch and the viewing decks were super nice to see the scenery from. Overall great experience, would definitely join again!
Driving 8 hours from Queenstown to Milford Sound and back isn’t an easy task, so we were incredibly grateful that we booked this tour. Our driver was friendly and hilarious, keeping us entertained while sharing interesting stories and facts about the scenery along the way. If you’re traveling with kids, this is definitely the best way to go — comfortable, informative, and stress-free!
I prayed for rain and boy did I get what I prayed for. The mountains around Fiordland were covered in temporary waterfalls that only appear when it rains for 4+ hours. They call them Cascades and it was magical. The cruise around Milford was exciting and well worth getting drenched in the rain. Worth it.
Mr Chao was our driver & guide. He has a great sense of humor , a storyteller, & in depth knowledge on New Zealand history. I particularly enjoyed the journey more than the destination itself, Milford Sound. the landscapes in both sides are too beautiful, didn’t even bother to sleep throughout the ride. bear in mind it can be too long ride for others, so be prepared for long journey going to Milford sound and back to queens town.
The tour was nicely planned with time for a quick bite / toilet break / photo stops along the way to make the long journey to Milford sound comfortable. Our driver Ryan drove very professionally (it was a huge bus), making the journey really comfortable (helps too that he had a good playlist)! Would highly recommend booking this tour.
It was really good view point and incredible. In that day that sunny day. there were waterfall that so beautiful. that were main point to see it. In my opinon if this day was raining day, I might be beautiful. because the water would fallen down on the mountains.
If you go to Queenstown or Te Anau, this is a must-go tour!! Mill Sound is so cool and the guide is so, so friendly🥹 It was even cooler because it was a nice day when I went! In fact, I only hiked Mt. Cook and went to Mill Sound without making a reservation, but since the weather was bad on Mt. Cook, I made a reservation the day before and went! But it was so good! It's a pretty big travel agency, so you can make reservations right away, and the guide was especially great! Recommended! Brandon, you are awesome!!👍👍
The buses provided by RealNZ are different from those provided by other companies. There are large windows on both sides of the bus, and the roof of the front half of the seats is also large glass. There is a pick-up service at the bus station near the hotel at 7 a.m., then it takes about 2 hours to drive to Ta anau, there will be about 45 minutes to rest/eat breakfast, and then it takes about 3 hours to drive, arriving at Milford Sound at about 12:30 . During the drive, the driver (and tour guide) will introduce the scenery along the way and stop for about 5-10 minutes when reaching certain photo spots. After boarding the boat at Milford Sound, we will continue along the fjord to St Anne Point and then back to the starting point, stopping in front of the waterfall. Meals are provided at your own expense on board. On the return trip, I purchased an additional ticket at my own expense via RealNZ and took a small plane from Milford Sound back to queenstown. (You can buy it on the spot if the situation permits, but small planes are very affected by the weather.) The driver said that the scenery will be even more stunning on rainy days. A must-do in the South Island! ☺️
bus was comfortable, driver/guide was friendly and humorous. the views along the way was beautiful and driver let us off at a couple of places for photos, quick breaks and to stretch our legs. was thankful we decided to leave our rented car in Queenstown and bought this tour cuz it really seems like a super tiring drive the 2hr cruise itself was nice, waterfall was majestic as was the rest of new zealand
