A bit behind Larissa Station. Plenty of space for luggage, 30 minutes at the rest area, and arrive at Meteora. Check-in at a 3-star hotel at around 1:00, afternoon schedule at 3:00, sunset tour, and drop off, ending day 1. Started day 2 at 8:50, visited 3 monasteries, and finished a little before 1:00. Free time until hotel pick-up at 5:30 PM. During that time, the hotel was very kind, letting us store our luggage and wait in the lobby. It was a tour where we were taken care of until the end and had no problems at all! If you don't speak English, it might be hard to hear the explanation.
On Day 1, our guide from Toronto was very good. (I forgot his name after so many days) He speaks perfect English and I think Greek as well. He’s a professional photographer and guide. He explains everything clearly and is able to answer all our questions. On the hiking tour, our guide is an energetic young man. I cannot spell his name sorry. He takes care of everyone and he is really good at herbs, history and geology. It’s a bit tiring but it’s worth it.
Meteora Tour 2 days, including 1 night accommodation with breakfast, full like combining 2 tours. Visited 5 monasteries, passed 1 view. The bus stopped early in the morning on the road in front of the Athens train station. On the first afternoon, we went sightseeing. The van is a bit small, difficult to get on and off. But when you see the view, you forget about being tired. The second day, we traveled for half a day to collect everything. Then we left at our leisure, waiting for the car to take us back to Athens.
A very fruitful and valuable tour!! Everything was smooth in the traffic and the tours! It included two tours in Meteora! We had a super nice guide, Clement in our sunset tour! So informative and we got to know more about the places we visited! On the second day we also had another tour visiting three monasteries! But as there has lots to look at, these were a bit rush..
Don't need to pick the 4 stars hotel. not worth, broken bath room. The first tour guide on the sunset tour Clement, he did a really great job, he got details info and explaination. I still recommend to join this tour. it is worth seeing Meteora.
The scenery of Meteora is really beautiful. The female tour guide on the first day will interact with everyone and give a very detailed introduction. The male tour guide on the second day is like a tour guide, fully describing the characteristics of each monastery. The free time for the trip is very long. We boarded the bus in Athens early on the first day, checked in at Kalambaka at noon, and started the itinerary in the evening. We ran the itinerary the next morning, started free activities at noon, and took the bus back to Athens in the evening. The town here is very beautiful, but it is really too hot in summer. Most of the cafes are not air-conditioned. The free activities on the second day are quite difficult. I really want to take a bus back early...
The weather was nice that day and not too cold. The scenery along the way is beautiful. The monastery on the top of the mountain seems to be suspended. The picture is very shocking. The tour guides on the two days were different. The tour guide on the first day was very detailed and the information was very detailed. Since there were only six people in the entire group, there was plenty of time to visit each attraction. Unfortunately, there were too many clouds at sunset and we were unable to enjoy the spectacular sunset. The half-day tour on the second day was quite crowded, but it was only about 10 people. The tour guide’s introduction was very simple, but we were able to visit six monasteries according to the itinerary. It turns out that if you are one person, you will be given a single room, and you don’t need to pay extra, which is a bit of a surprise.
One of the best highlight of the trip. Views were amazing and monasteries well maintained. Town is quiet and chill. Some of the food products are cheaper here than in Athens. Guides were amazing and we manage to cover most of the monasteries. Guide was kind to drop us on road beside holy trinity for us to hike up and down ourselves. Wear good shoes as steps may be slippery.
nice place, everything was smooth
A two-day trip is better than a one-day round trip, and you don’t have to rush for time. You can see six major monasteries in one trip, and the itinerary is good. The pick-up and drop-off vehicles are also comfortable.
