Wuhan Hankou 1930: A Republic of China Feast
- Immersive experience: The theater recreates the furnishings of old Hankou in the 1930s. Actors perform in the audience, and the audience can interact with the actors at any time, creating a strong sense of immersion.
- Diverse art forms: It integrates various art forms such as drama, musicals, song and dance dramas, Han opera, and mime to bring a rich audio-visual enjoyment to the audience.
- Regional cultural characteristics: Based on the prototype of Liu Xinsheng, the "King of Hankou Land", it interweaves the prosperous scene of the Republic of China and the patriotic feelings of national capitalists, integrates old landmarks such as Jianghan Road, and showcases the spirit and regional culture of Hankou.
- Integration of food and drama: Wang Haidong, one of the top ten chefs in Asia, and Qiu Jingwen, who was the executive chef of Shanghai International Metropolitan Club, jointly manage and develop dishes, such as Fortune, Prosperity, Cherry Foie Gras, and Green Sea Qiongbo Wing Shadow Soup, allowing the audience to taste the deliciousness of intangible cultural heritage.
- Featured costume changing service: The theater provides cheongsams, Zhongshan suits and other costumes of the Republic of China for the audience to rent. After changing clothes, the audience can better integrate into the scene and take photos in places such as antique mirrors on the corner of the stairs and green ne table tops to create the same blockbuster as "In the Mood for Love".
What to expect
Hankou 1930 takes "Old Hankou in the Republic of China" as its core theme. The theater's decoration and furnishings are replicated in the style of the 1930s, with wooden carvings, retro chandeliers, and posters from the Republic of China scattered throughout. From the old Hankou wharf photos on the walls to the copper tableware on the tables, every detail is imbued with a strong atmosphere of the Republic of China, allowing the audience to feel as if they have traveled back to the golden age of Hankou, a bustling hub of merchants. The store has two types of scenes: a long table seat on the first floor and a private box on the second floor. Whether it is the T-shaped performance area surrounded by a long table or the exclusive viewing angle in the box, customers can immerse themselves in the worldly prosperity and modern style of old Hankou.
As Wuhan's first immersive dining and interactive drama with the theme of "History of the Republic of China", Hankou 1930 deeply integrates old Hankou culture, diversified performances, and the Republic of China banquet, creating a unique and participatory experience for the audience. From the moment you step into the Longwang Temple Theater on Yanjiang Avenue, you are no longer a bystander - put on a cheongsam, Zhongshan suit and other costumes of the Republic of China, take the "Republic of China admission ticket" from the actor, and instantly transform into a merchant, literati or citizen of old Hankou, and place yourself in a cultural space full of memories of the times.
Hankou 1930 is not only a double feast for the taste buds and the eyes, but also a "living exhibition hall" of the history of old Hankou. We take "Republic of China life scenes" as the carrier, and innovatively integrate Hankou wharf culture, the spirit of national capitalists, Republic of China art forms and contemporary immersive experience to reshape a "touchable Republic of China and a tasteful Hankou" for urban people. This 90-minute banquet drama is not only a tribute to the prosperity of old Hankou, but also a new way for the younger generation to feel the local history - here, every interaction is a dialogue with history, and every bite of food is a reminiscence of the times.
