What to expect
🚃🌊 Take the Kyoto Tango Sea Train through the "Spirited Away-like Sea Railway", visit the Flying Dragon View and coastal pine forests of Amanohashidate, one of Japan's three most scenic views, and then wander through the Ine Funaya fishing village and bay cafes, reminiscent of "Japan's Venice", to complete a cinematic and Instagram-worthy healing day trip to a beautiful coastal town. ✨
- The journey begins with the sea train from Nishi-Maizuru Station. The diesel train slowly travels along the northern coast of Kyoto, with tranquil fishing villages, understated bays, and pristine nature outside the window. As the train crosses the Yura River Bridge, the tracks seem to float above the sea, and the seamless blend of sea and sky instantly brings to mind the world of "Spirited Away", adding a touch of tenderness and romance to the retro carriage. 🚃🌊
- Upon arriving at Amanohashidate, the pace naturally slows down. This sandbar, spanning the sea and surrounded by pine forests and white sand, is a classic landscape in the hearts of Japanese people. Take the cable car up to ViewLand, and from a high vantage point, view it "between your legs" to see the sandbar transform into a giant dragon flying towards the sky. ⛰️🐉
- Stroll along the entrance of the sandbar to Chion-ji Temple. The ancient temple is quiet and solemn, with stone lanterns and temple architecture carrying the warmth of time's sedimentation. The moment the revolving bridge slowly rotates is like a subtle yet exquisite performance, making people stop and wait. 🍃
- Afterwards, head to Ine Funaya, where the scene becomes quiet again. The funaya houses are lined up along the bay, with clear water and deep green mountains, where life and nature coexist effortlessly. Look out from a high point, or daydream by the window of a cafe, and time seems to slow down gently with the sea breeze. If you choose to take a boat out to sea, seeing the funaya up close and seagulls flying past the boat adds a touch of everyday romance. 🕊️☕🌊
* From the sea train to the Funaya fishing village, this is a journey that wanders between classics and hidden gems, gently imprinting the quietest and most moving scenery of northern Kyoto into memory. 💙✨

Reviews
Highly recommended to go on this tour with family and friends! We even managed to see snow on the way there! My family had a fun time feeding the seagulls with shrimp crackers at Ine. We also managed to take nice pictures and enjoyed the view at Amanohashidate.
Our tour guide this time was Frank Wang Ping, and he was very attentive, taking care of everyone and checking on how we were doing. Our first stop was the Tango Sea Railway. This is a rural area, so it has a tranquil feel. We only passed the sea for 28 seconds, so the tour guide told us to quickly record a video and take pictures. Next, we took a cable car to Amanohashidate. Riding the cable car alone was fun and a very unique experience. Once at the top, there were some facilities where you could pay extra to play. The scenery looking down was breathtaking! Next, we arrived at Ine no Funaya. Most of the people here live by fishing. The first floor is for mooring boats, and the second floor is used as living quarters. We took a walk around and then took a boat to feed the seagulls. It was a bit scary but a very special experience.
It was wonderful trip. I was so glad that i found it last minute, worth the money and journey to those places. Joanna was really nice and helpful guide. She was very informative about the schedule. We loved it so much and I wish we could stay there longer so we could spend more time to look around 😍
I've been on a few "mixed language" tours, but ChaCha did a great job of actually switching between Chinese and English very well. I never felt like I was missing anything. She always seemed happy about bringing us to where we are going. I'm glad to have gone on this trip, because there's no way I would have been able go to Kyoto by the Sea without the tour. It is quite a packed itinerary.
Richard the tour guide was helpful and responsive. The tour included beautiful views in Amanohashidate. Chairlift and Sky Cycle were a surreal experience at Amanohashidate Viewland. Boat ride was a fun experience feeding the Seagulls and Kites at Ine Bay.
Shuya was a very efficient guide both in English and Chinese. Her instructions were clear as to the meeting point and time. She even sent messages via WhatsApp to remind us of our departure. Overall a very nice experience! The train ride saved us an hour so we arrived an hour ealier in Amanohashidate before the most of the other tourists. The chairlift was great. Ine Village and the boat ride along Ine Bay was also great. It was a very fun filled day 😊
We participated in the tour and overall had a very entertaining time. The tour was well organized and we were able to see many exciting places. We were particularly impressed by the seagull feeding, a truly great experience! In addition, the train ride was also a highlight. Traveling over the sea was simply fantastic and something we won't soon forget. Despite the bad weather, our tour guide Even led us brilliantly through the day. She explained a lot, was attentive and accompanied us safely. Overall, it was a nice and worthwhile tour!
Fuss free and fun — good to book if you are looking to cover the not so usual locations on your holiday. Even, our guide, shared with us highlights of each location in both English and Mandarin. She also managed the time tightly to ensure that we are able to get back to Osaka by evening, although more time would have been appreciated for explafion of the second location… because the queueing for the chairlift. / monorail took a long time, like 20 mins to go up. Overall, it was a good experience and personable guide.
This tour was a nice change of pace and break from our feet. I enjoyed the chair lift so I would recommend that! I was able to do everything I wanted to do and didn't feel rushed. Beware of the birds on the boat tour. Wear something you are ok with getting poop on lol trust me. 李佳琳 was a good toir guide!
Very Beautiful places. Our tour guide Mr Liu wah are very nice and good tour guide. We are very satisfied with this trip. Thank you.
Good to know
- If you have time to take a sightseeing boat, please note: Due to the large number of eagles in the Ine Funaya area, please be careful when taking the sightseeing boat. If you spot an eagle, please immediately stop feeding the seagulls and put away your feed to avoid being pecked by an eagle.
