Reviews summaryWent at the end of December. Such a memorable experience! The trip started with boarding the ship at sunrise and disembarking at sunset. The whole time the weather was clear and sunny. The on-board activities were enough to fill the 3-hour boarding time. Besides floating in the sea in lobster suits, you could also take pictures on the deck and visit the captain's cabin and machine room. There were three choices for lunch on board: meatballs with mashed potatoes, salmon rice, and vegan pasta, along with a bowl of soup (salmon soup / tomato vegetable soup) and garlic bread. The food wasn't particularly tasty; the meatballs seemed boiled and tasted normal, and the salmon rice was also just okay. The outdoor area on the ship was very cold, but luckily there was hot GLOGG available to warm the stomach and hands.
Excellent experience! We went on the first day of its official season on 20 Dec. The ice was not very thick yet but enough to show us the prowess of the icebreaker. It was not thick enough for walking on ice. But when we went for the ice floating, we could climb onto the ice and stand on it, which makes a good photo. During ice floating, make sure you let the photographer take lots of photo for you and your family. They identify you by the QR code tag you wear on your wet suit, so make sure it is visible most of the time. And you pay 45euros for one printed photo and the link to the softcopy photos for that tag. Although it is quite expensive and a 2.5h drive from Rovaniemi, this cruise can accommodate children above 125cm for ice floating. Other cruises might not cater to this height.
We recently booked the Polar Icebreaker Cruise through Klook, and it was hands down one of the most unforgettable experiences of our lives! From the moment we boarded the icebreaker ship, we knew we were in for something extraordinary. The entire journey was seamless, thanks to Klook’s easy booking process and clear instructions. The cruise itself was absolutely breathtaking. Sailing through the icy waters and snow-covered landscapes, it felt like stepping into another world. The highlight, of course, was watching the icebreaker plow through thick sheets of ice - it was both thrilling and mesmerizing! The crew was incredibly knowledgeable and shared fascinating insights about the Arctic environment and the science behind icebreaking. The ship was comfortable and well-equipped, with large viewing decks that allowed us to take in the panoramic views and capture incredible photos. The icy landscapes were surreal, and the sheer power of the icebreaker cutting through the frozen sea was a sight we’ll never forget. What made this experience even better was the professionalism and enthusiasm of the staff. They were attentive, friendly, and made sure everyone felt safe and informed throughout the journey. The onboard amenities, including warm drinks and lunch, were a nice touch, especially in the chilly air. We highly recommend this Polar Icebreaker Cruise to anyone looking for a unique and awe-inspiring adventure. Whether you’re a nature lover, an adventure seeker, or just someone who wants to experience something truly extraordinary, this cruise is worth every penny.
The bus that came to pick us up was very punctual. It was big and comfortable. The round trip took 6 hours, but it was worth it. Don't feel too tired. The food on the boat was more delicious than expected. The boat looks old. But it's not that scary. quite complicated If you have children, you may need to keep an eye on them as they may get lost. Choose an afternoon tour. This caused the ship to depart along the same route that had already been cut through the ice. If you go in the morning, you might be able to cut some new ice. It doesn't take much time to swim. Staff help change clothes Polite Very helpful There will be staff waiting to take photos. After swimming, you must choose a picture. and there is a charge of 20 euros for uploading images.
we really love this amazing tour. it was one of our best experiences in our lives. The scenery was gorgeous. I would suggest to go there 30 mins earlier in order to get enough time to explore the whole cruise. Please bring enough clothings because it would be freezing cold and windy.
the highlight experience on my journey in finland, cool ship , cool place , lunch was good! transportation transfer was efficient and very friendly guider and staff at the ship! just wear proper attire for this cool journey!!
There is a pick-up point at Santa Claus Village. On that day, we took the sleeper train to Rovaniemi and then took this trip. It was quite smooth. The icebreaker was very shocking. It was fun to walk on the ice after getting off the boat. The meals were also delicious. We will get our own wristbands and eat and wear lobster costumes to go into the water according to the allocated time. It is basically free time, and there is no special explanation from the tour guide. Please note that for the afternoon group, lunch will not be available until 2-3 pm. If you are hungry, you should eat more in the morning.
it was one of my best experiences in my life. really worth to join this tour. remember to arrive 30 mins earlier so that you can explore the whole cruise.
I booked the 11 AM tour and waited at the Rovaniemi Tourist Information Center. The tour guide arrived on time, and after boarding the bus, we headed straight to the icebreaker terminal in Sweden. The most exciting part was seeing the ship break through the ice, creating a path as it sailed. After lunch, we were able to disembark and walk on the ice to take photos. Afterward, we put on survival suits and floated in the icy water; it didn't feel cold at all. This activity was a lot of fun, and although it was a bit expensive, it was definitely worth it!
Going to the Arctic means experiencing an Arctic icebreaker, floating on the sea in a lobster 🦞 flotation suit, and walking to the middle of the sea for a stroll. An Arctic Circle trip is a must-try experience.
