What to expect

  • Rich Collection of Cultural Relics and Historical Heritage: The Shaanxi Archaeological Museum is China's first museum with archaeology as its theme. It houses tens of thousands of precious cultural relics from prehistoric times to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, including pottery, bronzes, jade, gold and silver wares, comprehensively showcasing Shaanxi's profound historical heritage as one of the birthplaces of Chinese civilization.
  • Systematic Display of Archaeological Achievements: The museum's displays will include a basic display of Shaanxi's archaeological history and displays of important new archaeological discoveries. It will reflect the history of Chinese archaeology through the occurrence and development of Shaanxi archaeology, and popularize archaeological knowledge to the public. At the same time, it will regularly display important new archaeological discoveries in a timely manner, which is one of the main features that distinguishes archaeological museums from other historical or art museums.
  • Modern Architecture and Humanistic Design: The architectural design of the Shaanxi Archaeological Museum integrates traditional and modern elements. The exterior is grand and elegant, and the interior layout is scientific and reasonable. The architectural style draws on the forms of ancient sites, such as rammed earth walls and pottery decorations, reflecting the unique charm of Shaanxi's historical culture. At the same time, the museum also pays attention to humanistic care, with supporting facilities such as barrier-free access, rest areas, and cultural and creative shops to meet the needs of different visitors.
  • Interactive Experience and Popular Science Education: The museum focuses on the audience's sense of participation and experience, and has specially set up a number of interactive experience areas. Visitors can participate in simulated archaeological excavations, experience the process of文物 restoration firsthand, and even "walk into" ancient sites through virtual reality technology to experience the real scenes of history. These interactive projects are not only suitable for families with children, but also provide rare learning opportunities for students and archaeology enthusiasts. In addition, the museum regularly holds archaeological lectures, cultural salons and other activities, inviting experts and scholars to communicate with the audience face-to-face, further popularizing archaeological knowledge and promoting outstanding Chinese traditional culture.
