What to expect

- In the early morning, approach Lake Biwa, where the torii gate of Shirahige Shrine stands serenely in the water ⛩️. The lake's color changes with the light and shadows, and distant fishing boats slowly glide by, as if only a stretch of water separates humans from deities. There is no hustle and bustle here, only the wind, the lake, and the ever-changing sky, making it a perfect place for photography and quiet contemplation 📸.
- Afterwards, take the cable car up to the Biwako Valley Terrace (Seasonal: May 1 - November 23, 2026; December 19 - March 21 of the following year; during maintenance closures: June 29 - July 3; September 7 - September 11; November 24 - December 18, visit Sanzen-in). In just a few minutes, the view expands from the forest to a vast lake panorama, with the 360-degree Lake Biwa unfolding beneath your feet ✨. The lakeside terrace, cafes, and sky merge into one, creating one of the most popular scenes on Instagram. If time permits, you can also try zip-lining or simply take a stroll, feeling the wind and freedom from above.
- Sanzen-in (Seasonal: Visit on other dates/when the cable car is temporarily closed) is like a secret realm gently enveloped by time 🍃. Moss covers the garden, streams murmur softly, and each season offers its own unique beauty, yet it remains consistently tranquil. There’s no need to rush with photos here; it’s a place meant for slow walks and quiet observation, allowing your mind to settle.
- Finally, arrive at La Collina Omihachiman 🌿. The grass-roofed buildings blend seamlessly with the hills, like stepping into a fairy tale. The aroma of freshly baked baumkuchen fills the air, adding a gentle sweetness to the journey.

Great weather all day. Got to see some beautiful sights, though if I'd known Biwako Valley would be so cold up there, I would've brought my jacket. Our Guide Alvin is very kind, professional and knowleadable about the history of our tour. I just wish we had more time on other locations but will definitely do it again. This your will save you a lot of time in going to different places.
The tour guide sent an email beforehand with detailed pick-up locations and provided very clear contact information. However, this tour is simply a shuttle service to various attractions without any guided commentary. It's advisable to do your own research beforehand to understand the background stories of the places you visit. The tour guide spoke Chinese, so communication was very smooth. However, it might be more challenging for non-Chinese speakers, as they might not fully understand what's happening if there are any itinerary changes due to real-time circumstances. I'm very grateful to our tour guide, Yoyo, for promptly assisting me when I realized my phone battery was low and I had forgotten my charging equipment.
A huge thank you to Effy! She was incredibly gentle, attentive, and responsible. Throughout the trip, she patiently reminded everyone of meeting times and important details, making the entire journey very relaxed. Today, I didn't have enough cash to buy a cable car ticket, and Effy proactively paid for me, so I didn't have to worry about missing out on the itinerary. I transferred the money back to her right away. I'm truly grateful to Effy. Although it was very foggy at the mountaintop today and we couldn't see Lake Biwa's most famous view, which was a shame, the cable car experience was still very pleasant, and the atmosphere in the mountains was special. I even accidentally dropped a bottle of water during the trip, considering it a small gift to the mountain. Finally, La Collina Omihachiman was also well worth visiting; the souvenirs and desserts were delicious. This was a very relaxing and comfortable day trip. Even though the weather wasn't on our side, Effy's attentiveness and responsibility ensured that this trip still left us with wonderful memories. I highly recommend it to everyone!

She also seriously introduces the attractions and what's good to eat and fun to do 🥰 I always thought Sanzen-in Temple was too far, and I hadn't been there in five trips to Kyoto, but I finally got to go on this Klook tour and I really liked it 🤩 I recommend it to everyone! I participated in the Lake Biwa Observation Deck, Shirahige Shrine, and Ukimido Temple day tour on July 15, 2026. Our tour guide, Effy Cheng, was very professional. Her explanations were clear, and she spoke excellent Mandarin and English. The itinerary was well-planned, and she took great care of the group members, even helping us take photos. Many thanks to her! 😊 The scenery from the Lake Biwa Observation Deck is beautiful and definitely worth a visit.
Literally a must-do day tour, all visits were really good, timing was sufficient and definitely worth it
I booked this tour two days before departure and had a great experience. Our driver and guide, Nicklee, was very responsible and attentive. He picked us up and dropped us off, and also explained the local Japanese culture and tourist attractions along the way. He was kind and friendly, thoughtfully provided water, and took care of everyone.
Since Biwako Valley was closed, we went to Sanzen-in Temple instead. Sanzen-in also has hydrangeas to see recently. There are many one-day tours departing from Kyoto, so be careful not to get them confused. Before departure, the guide will also send an email with the bus license plate number. The entire trip was very smooth, and all the tour members were punctual. Both the Chinese and English groups were combined into one, so our guide, Mr. Xie, worked hard to provide explanations in both languages. My only complaint is that the time at La Collina was too short; it's a beautiful place, but we only had an hour to look around. It felt rushed trying to buy souvenirs and have afternoon tea.

- To Sanzen-in Temple from Biwako Observatory on regular closing days: June 29 (Mon) - July 3 (Fri), September 7 (Mon) - September 11 (Fri), November 24 (Tue) - estimated to end late December.
- According to Japanese law, vehicle usage time must not exceed 10 hours, so the guide may adjust the itinerary based on the actual situation of the day.
- To ensure your smooth travel, please be sure to confirm the meeting point. Once confirmed, please avoid temporary changes. If you are unable to board the vehicle due to changing the meeting point for personal reasons, no refund will be given.
- Please be aware: As this is a shared tour, guests speaking other languages may be traveling with you in the same vehicle.
