Tianxin Pavilion is a city tower in the ancient city of Changsha, and the surrounding city wall is the only remaining section of the ancient city wall in Changsha. Near Tianxin Pavilion, there is also a paifang (ceremonial archway) called "Chonglie Gate," built in 1946 to commemorate the soldiers who sacrificed during the three major battles of Changsha in the Anti-Japanese War. Tianxin Pavilion is located in Tianxin Park and was first built in the eleventh year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1746). The Tianxin Pavilion that visitors see today was rebuilt in 1983. The main building of Tianxin Pavilion is subject to a fee (including Tianxin Pavilion and the surrounding ancient city wall), while Tianxin Park is open to the public for free. The entire Tianxin Pavilion building is supported by forty-six red lacquered round pillars, with chestnut-tiled and white walls, and a thick and solid gray-white stone base. The stone railings in front and behind the pavilion are carved with 62 stone lions, and 32 wind chimes are hung on the pavilion, ringing in the wind. There is a screening room next to Tianxin Pavilion that shows a film about the history of Tianxin Pavilion every hour, with a length of about 7 minutes (equipment maintenance on Monday afternoons). Guided tours are also available in the paid area. Opposite Tianxin Pavilion is the Jian牘 Museum (Changsha Bamboo Slips Museum), which can be visited together.
