We used this travel pass on Tuesday. We were able to purchase and use it on the same day. Just show the purchase voucher on your phone to the station staff to board the train, which is very convenient. We took the Limited Express (non-reserved seating) from Matsuyama to Uchiko and visited the historical building preservation area in Uchiko Town: Admired the approximately 600-meter-long group of Edo to Taisho era buildings, with many old houses converted into galleries and shops. Kamihaga Residence (Wood Wax Museum): Learned about the history of the wood wax industry and visited the wealthy merchant's residence and garden. (Tickets are required, and there is a discount with the train pass.) Uchiko Town House Museum: Experienced town house life and traditional crafts. Part of the Uchiko-za is currently under renovation, so we did not go inside. Also, be sure to pay attention to the bus and train schedule. It is best to take a picture of the return train timetable when you get off the train so your trip will be smooth.
The pass was easy to use and it made it possible to visit many interesting spots: historical sites, houses and streets, parks, natural areas and coastal line. All in one day with saving money on transportation.
Good Deal, saves you the hassle to buy ticket at each stop/station. Started my day from matsuyama to Uchiko, and in the afternoon headed to Ozu its very small so you can cover that up in the afternoon and wish i could have taken the 16h21 train which is a local train and stops at Shimonada station to view and experience the sunset by the beach station, but i came late and missed it. so a good deal if you plan to do Uchiko in the morning and Ozu in the afternoon
Uchiko and Ozu are both very special places, quite different from popular tourist areas. Let's start with Uchiko. When I visited, Uchiko-za was under renovation, but a small part was still accessible for a fee, and the staff were very dedicated in their explanations. The Hachiman-dori Gokoku district is beautiful; it would have been even better if more machiya houses were open for interior viewing. Ozu's main attraction is Ozu Castle, which is currently the largest castle keep reconstructed entirely from wood. It looks impressive from a distance, and with the cherry blossoms in full bloom, it was absolutely stunning. The only downside was that the castle town wasn't very bustling. Regarding this pass, it's very easy to use; once activated, you just show it to the staff. The drawback is that train services are infrequent (especially on Sundays), so careful itinerary planning is essential. Also, there didn't seem to be any city buses to the main attractions, requiring quite a bit of walking. I didn't have time this trip, but I hope to visit Iyo-Nagahama next time.
You absolutely have to take the express train~ Otherwise it'll take way too long~ Since there's no barcode or QR code, go to the station attendant on the left side of the gate and show it to them~ They also check tickets on the train, so please have it ready^^
I highly recommend planning carefully before purchasing this coupon! Especially for those planning to visit Shimonada... the train intervals are truly awful, and it's incredibly crowded... I skipped Uchiko to go there, and as soon as the train pulled into the station, almost 50 people were pointing their cameras at the train... I felt like a celebrity... In the end, I didn't even get off and went straight back to Matsuyama Station... If your goal is the ocean, I recommend Baishinji as an alternative. I went there too... and it was much quieter and nicer! There's also a spot where you can take pictures of passing trains, which is great! Anyway, if you do purchase it, I recommend focusing on Uchiko and Iyo-Ozu! Plan well and I hope everyone has a great trip! I didn't plan well, so I think mine was a failure!! Haha. / As a side note, places like Ozu Castle and Garyu Sanso in Iyo-Ozu were great! But keep in mind that they aren't very large!
I had a great trip using the walking pass. It was a mobile voucher, so there was no chance of losing it, and it was very convenient to use.
The price is very reasonable; you'll make your money back after just two rides. Plus, you can see some attractions. The bus schedule isn't coordinated. Oozu doesn't have any free attractions, so just spend more time exploring Uchiko.
A very convenient day pass. Besides Uchiko and Ozu, you can also go to Shimonada. If you take the limited express both ways, it's worth the price!!
This voucher is great because you don't have to ask questions or haggle. It's very convenient to use.
