The Spirit of Kintsugi
Everyone is imperfect, and at times, our hearts get hurt and broken. Even so, we heal, overcome, and carry on with those wounds. Eventually, we become stronger and more beautiful than before.
Kintsugi is the same. Instead of simply repairing broken items, we transform the cracks into new brilliance, reborn into a more beautiful form than before.
Scars are not flaws, but stories and strengths. That is the power of Kintsugi.

This was a wonderful experience that gave me a chance to salvage a precious gift. A priceless ceramic ornament was pieced back together and I learned about the special technique Kintsugi. I think it’s a beautiful practice to restore art using pretty gold or silver and is symbolic of how broken pieces can be put back together with love! The staff members were very kind and welcoming. The studio was easy to find, with parking on the corner and a comfortable space to work in. There were also some pretty pieces for sale and different options to work on. It was a great experience and a unique opportunity! At the end I was offered tea and a snack which I thought was a kind gesture. I highly recommend!
This was a wonderful activity to do when you need a change from the usual tourist activities, plus a unique momento to take home. It was slow paced which is what kintsugi is all about. Thw ladies helped improve my attempt and it was a delightful afternoon all round
This was such a special and meaningful experience! I love the concept of embracing flaws and turning them into beauty, and was excited to find this simplified Kintsugi experience. The ladies were very helpful in taking us through each step, and I went home with a beautiful hand-made work of art. Highly recommend!
This experience were amazing. You had an English speaking Japnese guide who gave you clear instructions how to make the Kintsugi. At the beginning you could choose your own small plate or bowl and was show to your own work station there you were guided through various steps what to do as well as got to know how real Kintsugi are done by using the Urashi Tree sap. I. short a amazing and fun experience. experience: amazing instructor: Clear and very helpful location: Easy to find via Google maps very spacious studio with good ventilation.
The studio was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful and the expertise was definitely worth it. Learned a lot about Kintsugi and trying it hands on was really entertaining. getting to leave with your repaired pottery was a great take home too.
Mayo was lovely and a great teacher! We loved the pieces we got to ‘fix’ and there were some other beautiful items you can buy whilst there. It was a really nice touch to have the tea and okinawan cookies whilst waiting for the pieces to set. Thanks again :) Would deffo recommend!
fun experience! I got to do the work myself, and then the instructor would inspect and correct any issues as needed. got to take my project home at the end. if you have a couple hours to spare, worth doing. also bought some cute handmade pottery earrings from the studio
very good experience. the teacher is very kind. she speaks good english and introduce the history of kintsugi location is easy to find. easy to do, a good lesson to start with.
My friends and I enjoyed Mayo’s workshop a lot. Everything was provided and there’s nothing to prepare, just walk in. There was a selection of broken plates, and we all picked something we liked. Mayo was very patient and instructed each of us individually. She also helped us with our work when we got stuck. We got to choose gold or silver for the mending as well. After the workshop, Mayo provided caffeine free tea and yummy shortbreads for us while she helped us with some final adjustments (or, saving them). We’re all different on the level of artistry, from failing art at school to professional, but we all get to take a cute little plate home in the end. We absolutely recommend anyone who wants to experience this to the workshop.
thank you so much for the wonderful experience!!! I really enjoyed myself. also like to thank you for the recommendation on to where to get some SEA SNAKE SOUP!!!
