Attraction Introduction
Yun Hsien Resort, Wulai, New Taipei City Wulai is located approximately 27 kilometers southeast of Taipei City and is the only mountain township in Taipei County. The entire area is covered with verdant trees, clear flowing water, and surrounded by mountains. The source of the renowned Wulai Waterfall is a scenic area with lakes and mountains, ancient towering trees, and misty clouds in the forest. Butterflies, cicadas, and birdsong create a paradise-like atmosphere. However, this beautiful scenery has been inaccessible to tourists due to the cliffs of the Nanshi River. This led to the construction of the aerial cable car project, which completely presents the original natural landscape to the people. Because of its natural beauty, the succession of spring, summer, autumn, and winter has different beauty like a fairyland, named “Yun Hsien Resort”.
Wulai Trolley (Closed for maintenance on the first Tuesday of every month) The Wulai Trolley was initially used for transporting timber. Due to the tourism development of Wulai Waterfall and the needs of tourists, passenger transport was officially launched in 1963, with tourists being pushed by manpower. In order to cope with the growing number of tourists, it was mechanized in 1974, with diesel engines driving the trolleys. In 1987, tunnels were excavated at the waterfall station to replace the original turntable rotation, which has been used to this day. The operating route runs from Wulai Station to Waterfall Station, with a total length of approximately 1.6 kilometers. It operates daily from 8:00 to 17:00, and the operating hours are adjusted to cooperate with the summer peak season. It operates on demand to serve passengers. When visiting Wulai Old Street, the trolley is a popular attraction for adults and children alike.
Wulai Forestry Life Museum (Closed every Tuesday) The Wulai Forestry Life Museum, formerly known as the Wulai Trolley Museum, has extreme waterfall beauty and is a museum dedicated to recording and presenting the history and cultural relics of trolleys. The museum offers on-site trolley rides and guided tours every day, as well as relaxing and healing spiritual art activities on weekends. We look forward to welcoming friends who love nature and art. (Entering the B3 large terrace of the Forestry Life Museum to take pictures of the beautiful Wulai Waterfall is even more beautiful)
Wulai Waterfall Wulai Waterfall is the waterfall with the largest drop in northern Taiwan. It was listed as one of the Eight Views of Taiwan during the Japanese occupation and is also known as “Yunlai no Taki”. When rainfall is abundant, Wulai Waterfall forms two flying springs, cascading straight down from the valley, displaying a magnificent beauty. In spring, you can also admire the blooming pink cherry blossoms next to the waterfall, adorning the waterfall forest.
Wulai Old Street “Wulai Old Street” refers to the area around Wulai Street, Waterfall Road, and Huanshan Road. The shop signs are uniform in style, which looks quite neat, and most of the shops are based on Aboriginal characteristics, so tourists can taste Aboriginal-style mountain delicacies, such as carbon-grilled wild boar, hot spring eggs, Alpinia rice, bamboo rice, maqaw cuisine, mountain fern, and pearl onions, which are rare Aboriginal-style dishes in other places. In addition, there are millet wine, millet mochi, and other specialties, which are also very suitable for sharing with relatives and friends as souvenirs. At the same time, you can also watch mountain song and dance performances here and feel the enthusiasm and vitality of the Aboriginal people.
Wulai Visitor Center After a day of fun, you can also go to the front of the Wulai Visitor Center for an experience. You can first visit the visitor center, which provides tourist brochures, introductions, and commemorative stamps to deepen your understanding of Wulai. After leaving the entrance, you can first go to the hot spring foot bath pool on the right to enjoy the experience and relax (please bring your own small towel to wipe your feet).
