- Kagura troupes from all over Hiroshima Prefecture perform Hiroshima Kagura, a traditional performing art, on a weekly basis.
- The performances are based on Japanese mythology and classical literature, with performers in gorgeous costumes performing elegant dances to the rhythm of lively music.
- Subtitles are available in English so that visitors from overseas can also experience traditional culture up close.
- The backstage tour takes place on stage after the performance and includes commentary by troupe members and an交流会 with the members. You can try on costumes and masks, take commemorative photos, and of course, ask questions directly to the troupe members who have just finished performing. Enjoy this special experience limited to 10 people.
What to expect
Kagura, primarily in the northwestern part of Hiroshima Prefecture, has evolved into a highly entertaining performance over the years, incorporating various staging techniques while still cherishing its role as a sacred ritual. Most of the performed programs are stories familiar to Japanese people through Kagura, Noh, and Kabuki. By displaying English subtitles on stage, we believe that people from overseas can easily experience Japanese culture.
