What to expect
Himeji Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of Japan’s most stunning and iconic landmarks. Known as the "White Heron Castle" for its graceful white exterior, it has stood for over 400 years. Its maze-like corridors and panoramic views from the main keep reflect the grandeur of Japan’s feudal era. The surrounding gardens, adorned with cherry blossoms throughout the seasons, add to its charm.
Nearby, Nadagiku Sake Brewery, a beloved local establishment, crafts premium sake using carefully selected rice and water. Visitors can explore traditional brewing tools, learn from experts, and enjoy exclusive tastings of limited-edition sake. This tour offers a unique chance to experience Japan’s sake brewing heritage, officially recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2024.

Having a guide through Himeji castle is a wonderful experience. I don't think we would have appreciated it as much as we did if we just did it ourselves. We are history buffs and we loved it. The sake factory was also interesting and their products are great. Different from other sake, processed manually not by machine, in traditional style, it shows on the taste. Overall, so worth it
I would give more stars if I could! Nancy was a fantastic guide who kindly took our picture multiple times, and went so far as to ask the staff at the brewery for restaurant recommendations since we mentioned we hadn’t decided where to eat yet! She really made the day special for us, and we both appreciated her kindness. Himeji castle was beautiful, and the sake at the brewery was wonderful. Overall it was well worth the money and time! Highly recommend
this tour was great!! Nancy was a wonderful guide and very knowledgeable. she was also such a good sport in the heat— and it was so hot out when we went. she was kind and intelligent and spoke wonderful English. I would recommend this tour to anyone going to Himeji castle. there’s a lot you can miss if you just do it yourself. thanks again for such a. great time!!
The castle is magnificent, the prettiest and most complete I've ever seen. The guide was more than perfect as well, thank you very much. The sake brewery was nice, nothing special, but the guide's explanations were very clear. The sake, however, was very good.
We had an amazing time of this tour, our guide Etsuko was amazing, she went above and beyond to make our tour truly memorable. She was kind, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable.
Nancy was a great guide. Very informative. Very respectful. Definitely made it for an enjoyable experience. Would recommend.
Guide so inexperienced would’ve been better off booking audio tour. You can go to the Nadagiku Sake Brewery on your own— they’re lovely and a guide adds no value. I am a professional guide and hire subject matter experts to fill in the gaps. This tour by Haruna was so disheveled, I’m wondering if she couldn’t make it and maybe sent a friend in her place? From now on, will ask all guides for ID. One of the most expensive tours of the trip and by far worst experience with a Tour Company (888) in Japan. Hope I just saved you $100! Spend it on sake!
