Highly recommend taking a tour because there's so much to absorb and places to visit and you also don want to miss the train ride....... awesome scenery with mountains plantations river to view. You get to walk to the train tracks and also have a buffet spread overlooking the beautiful river. You get to see the train from this view too. You get to ride the speedboat that brings you to the bridge of River Kwai and get to see the cemetery where those who died building the bridge. Totally worth the trip.
Must really go by tour because there's soooo much to view and so much history..... our tour guide, Oom, was so knowledgeable and truly impress us with the history of the JEATH museum as well as the beautiful scenery when taking the train to Wan Po station to a lovey buffet spread. Don't miss this trip and remember to bring along your sleeping pillow because you get to also snooze on your way home.......
Fantastic tour. Rach our tour guide was informative, friendly and very professional. He ensured we all had an enjoyable experience. Definitely go on the long-tail boat. The views from the train and lunch were amazing. Thanks Rach for an enjoyable day.
I thought the tour was very well-organised from start to end. They got in touch with me the day before to inform me about the pickup point. Instructions were clear. Our guide Rach was fantastic - so knowledgeable about the various places, so attentive to all of us, and also so proactive in helping us take photos. The group was not too big - just 5 in total, and I understand that the guide and the driver do not have certainty in terms of the jobs that they are assigned. I really think this tour ought to be known by a lot more people. Perfect if you’re looking for a day trip outside busy busy Bangkok. Just one thing to note: this package doesn’t include the cost for the longtail boat ride as well as the tourist cabin for the train ride. But the guide will ask if you would like to join these.
Very organised tour great destination and Rach was an excellent tour guide organising our entire day. Train ride was really good. The only negative was the 5 hour bus trip home due to Bangkok horrendous traffic
for that price, this tour cannot be beaten. good for the history buffs and enough time to see the sights.
The guide was very friendly and we had a great time. Lunch was a buffet at a place along the river where you can see the Death Railway! I was happy that we could drink alcohol. Please note that it costs an additional 500 baht to ride the boat and train. Personally, I think it's well worth the experience!
The itinerary was a bit rush for shopping & the cave. Didn't really have time to go the cave. Too much time to explain in the museum.
The tour is great showing the history and the train was cool with gorgeous view. Tour guide was funny. However, the lunch buffet food was not good, rice is sticky and food doesn’t have much flavour. We were told to pay extra for the train seat but didn’t expect it to be 300 bahts when the basic train ticket should be included
If you are a history buff, this was a most excellent tour. The tour guide, Rach, was the best guide we have ever had. He had every aspect of a tour under control without being a task master rushing people along. His knowledge of the subject matter (the Bridge over the River Kwai; the train; the museum; the cemetary; the cave/infirmary; the Japanese camps. I learned more from Rach and this tour about Thailand then the 3 museums we visited in Bangkok. The train ride was great, 80km, windows open seeing the countryside. We walked the tracks, the bridge (as the train passed). Excellent...Make sure you request Rach for your guide as I was listening/observing other guides - their English was not as good and they rarely filled in the history.
