2 Day Machu Picchu Train Tour from Cusco – Scenic Inca Adventure

We contacted the travel agency via WhatsApp two days before our trip and received our train tickets and itinerary the day before departure. On the day of the trip, our guide arrived promptly at 3:30 AM at our hotel to pick us up and take us to the train station. Upon arriving in Aguas Calientes, the hostel receptionist was already waiting for us and led us to the hostel to rest. We then had free time to explore Aguas Calientes, have lunch, and buy souvenirs! The next morning, before dawn, the receptionist had already prepared a simple breakfast for us. Our guide, Stiven, arrived on time at the hostel to pick us and the other group members up. The bus ride up the mountain offered incredibly beautiful scenery! We were very lucky with the weather; the views were crystal clear as soon as we reached the top. Our guide, Stiven, was very knowledgeable, providing excellent explanations in both Spanish and English, and gave us ample time to take photos. The tour concluded at noon, leaving us a few hours to have lunch before returning to the hostel to collect our luggage and depart from Aguas Calientes. This tour offered excellent value for money and is highly recommended!

Jose contacted me via WhatsApp to arrange passport details for train, bus, and Machu Picchu bookings. 1st day Jose picked me up from the hotel and took me to the bus station. We managed the bus and train tickets ourselves: Bus: Cusco to Ollantaytambo Train: Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, Ederth met me at the station and escorted me to the hotel. He briefed me on the plans for day 2 and provided the bus tickets to Machu Picchu. 2nd day Richard was our guide, accompanying us from the hotel to Machu Picchu. He delved into the history of Machu Picchu and guided us through the site. He also recommended a restaurant in Aguas Calientes after the tour. I must mention that even though this was a 2-day tour, Jose took care of us from the moment we arrived in Peru. He regularly checked in via WhatsApp to offer assistance, including arranging transportation from the Cusco airport to the hotel. Upon my request, he graciously arranged for a hotel pick-up even after the tour had ended. In conclusion, I would like to commend Jose, Ederth, and Richard for being an exceptional team and for making our trip to Peru truly memorable.

I'm extremely satisfied because the friendly and meticulous guidance throughout the tour ensured everything went smoothly without any hitches. It was even better that we were provided with a first-class seat on the return leg of our round-trip train journey. However, above all, I am deeply grateful to our guide for their heartfelt and detailed explanations, and for their enthusiastic dedication until the very end, even though the tour ran much later than expected, without showing any sign of fatigue.

The itinerary was well organized and the guide had a good understanding of Machu Picchu and explained the architectural details and history clearly. A lot of local confusion was avoided.

Before booking, I asked several times about the name and address of the hotel in the hot spring town and the route to Machu Picchu. I was told that Aguas Calientes is the name of the hot spring town, not the hotel. The route to Machu Picchu is complicated and can be divided into up to 10 main and branch routes. The customer service was unable to provide information. I could only place an order first and then confirm it with the travel agency myself. However, once the itinerary is booked, it cannot be cancelled. I can only complete the order based on my trust in Klook. The travel agency responded negatively before departure, and the tickets had to be urged several times before we received them. The tour guide did not accompany us throughout the trip and even asked us to take care of key parts of the trip ourselves and pay extra. After arriving, we were asked to queue up for tickets on site one day in advance, which resulted in the cancellation of all original accommodation and itinerary. The hotel arranged did not match the platform information, the environment was poor and no breakfast was included. The travel agency arbitrarily changed the return train schedule. The original return time was 19:00, but they booked a flight that would arrive in Cusco at midnight without our consent. They did not inform us until the evening before departure, and then left immediately after informing us, affecting the subsequent one-week itinerary. We were left to inquire at the train station and buy tickets at our own expense, and were charged for transfer fees that should have been included in the itinerary. The overall experience was extremely poor. Klook has dealt with this incident, but the quality of this itinerary cannot be trusted and is not recommended.
