Reviews
I booked the Colosseum Arena Tour with Palatine Hill & Roman Forum through Carpe Diem Tours, and the experience was smooth and enjoyable. Their communication is excellent — very responsive on WhatsApp, and they’ll message you if you’re running late. They also have a Carpe Diem app, which I recommend downloading. The guide spoke clear English and used photo books to show what the sites originally looked like, which really helped with visualisation. The area isn’t like a museum — there’s no curated display or information panels to read. Without a guide, most of the ruins would be hard to interpret. Palatine Hill involves a fair bit of walking, and the Colosseum has steep steps both going up and exiting. What stood out most was how interactive the guide was, explaining the history in a way that made everything more engaging as if exploring alone, the ruins can start to look like “rocks of different sizes”.
Visiting the Colosseum today offers a fascinating glimpse into Roman history. The site is impressive both in scale and historical significance. You can explore the lower levels where gladiators once waited, as well as the upper tiers with stunning views of the city. The preservation of the Colosseum isn’t perfect, but it adds to the sense of ancient ruin and grandeur
Fantastic trip and the guide always helps if you really want to know the history of Rome. Would definitely recommend to everyone one.. One feedback is for the person waiting at the meeting point is to hold a bigger umbrella or sign board.Sometimes in the rain or with so many people it's difficult to spot them. Adding image number 6 as a reference image to show the size of the flag.
Because I didn’t want to just wander around, I joined a one-day tour. The day before departure, the relevant travel agency sent me an email reminding me of the meeting place and the name of the tour guide. It was recommended to arrive at the meeting place 5 to 10 minutes early. The relevant group members were all very self-disciplined. They were all there 10 minutes early, so I could be on time. Set off. The director this time is Khristina. He is a very passionate and knowledgeable tour guide. He has been engaged in this tour guide career for 40 years. It can be seen that his information on the ancient Roman period is very clear and extensive, and he can use it. An easy and simple guided tour to fully understand your understanding of the ancient Roman Empire. After browsing the ancient Roman Forum, we set off to the Colosseum. After entering the stands, we can see how forward-looking and intelligent the architecture of the ancient Roman Empire was at that time. After his explanation in the stands, we can Visit the Colosseum on your own. Overall, time management was good, the tour guide explained clearly, and the price-performance ratio was high.
Instructions for meet up were clear & we managed to find the in-charge person & the guide Paolo, arrived on time to take over the tour group. He had great energy, a good tour pace with insightful and witty commentaries & was always watchful over the group. He also gave food recommendations off the beaten track which I did try, cheaper & tastier than most touristy shops. Overall a fantastic tour!👍🏼👏🏼
this ticket holds access till 3rd level of colosium. finding the guide was bit difficult in the morning. it was over crowded and guide stopped showing flag for a moment. Over guide was patient and shown entire colosium with great role play.
The tour guide was super patient and introduced each scenic spot in detail. After walking to three places in one afternoon, my feet were really sore. 😆 My English listening ability is not very good and I don’t seem to understand Italian. 😆 But there is someone to guide you and it’s free. Taking pictures is pretty good too. The meeting point is not difficult to find.
It’s easy to find the meeting point. I really like Barbra’s tour guide. It’s very lively and lively. At the same time, he also takes into account the safety of the group members and the quality of the tour. He also constantly checks with us if we have any questions and can ask them at any time. It’s a very special tour. Great experience
Had a thoroughly enjoyable tour with Felicity. Was a small group of 8 people and it was totally worth the extra money we paid for Arena access. Felicity brought history to life with great humour and storytelling skills.. We were also lucky that a rarely open temple at the Forum had an exhibition and Felicity was quick to get us in . So we got a "bonus" tour that day. Totally recommend this tour under Carpe Diem Tours.
This tour is well organized. i received communication from organizer the day after booking to confirm participants. finding our guide was a breeze. Felicity (our guide) was awesome. It’s great that we did early morning tour so it is not yet too hot. She explained well the areas and allowed us also to take pictures. I would highly recommend Carpe Diem tours.
