Solo stay

Wow, did I luck out with this hotel or should I say resort? It’s located right on The Nile at water level. All the other hotels in Aswan are behind the Corniche, with the exception of the famous Old Cataract which is out of my budget and actually set further up on the cliffs. My favourite spot was out on the lounge swing at the water’s edge with a view of the West Bank. My room was set along the riverfront in a long line of rooms. It was spacious with a comfortable bed (not always a given in this region); large washroom (with too short a glass wall to stop the water from flooding the floor); kettle, coffee and tea; TV; a short bench for carry-on size luggage only; and a work desk. There are two restaurants, a waterside cafe and a huge pool deck with music and a bar. Breakfast was included with my booking and the array of dishes on offer was impressive. It’s a good location for shopping and was also just a short distance down the bank from my Nile cruise boat. This is the place to stay in Aswan, unless you can afford the Old Cataract!

Fantastic

Solo stay

The staff are fantastic. They really do everything they can to make things easy for you. Also if you are leaving very early to travel to Abu Simbel they will create a pack lunch for you in lieu of the breakfast buffet.

This is hands down the best value in Aswan if you want the feel of a luxury hotel at a reasonable price. The rooms are not huge but extremely well designed and tastefully decorated. We booked a garden view but got upgraded to a river view room, which was great because the views of the Nile from this hotel are peaceful and gorgeous. We will always book a river view in the future. The staff at this hotel are phenomenal! Very friendly and very helpful. In particular, we want to compliment our dinner waiter Hadra , who went above and beyond to make sure our meals were enjoyable and special. Other memorable staff are Farouk, the front desk assistant/porter and Asma, one of the room cleaning staff. Both made us feel very welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant is open 24 hours, which makes eating very convenient! The food varies depending on the chef working that day, but I had the best lamb tajine I have ever eaten at this hotel. The location is fabulous—easy access to the museums of Aswan, boat rides, etc. Since it’s right by the Nile (literally) you can easily escape the bustle of town here and really relax. If you walk into the town directly across the street you will quickly be in a bazaar that goes on for several blocks. Don’t be afraid to bargain at the bazaar and definitely check out the spice shops. When we return to Aswan we will definitely stay at Nile Obelisk again!

Sat on the bank of the Nile this lovely little hotel was perfectly situated for easy access across the city. Staff couldn’t have been more polite or helpful and the taxis ordered for us were well-priced and considerate. Food was good, and alcoholic drinks plentiful. We had such a good few days here. Thank you!

The hotel is very well located and has a beaten view of the river. The restaurant overlooks the Nile which makes breakfast and dinner a nice experience.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and had a wonderful stay. We were upgraded from a standard room with a garden view to a suite with a patio overlooking the Nile, which was a lovely, newly-renovated room with a stunning view. Very clean, air conditioning worked great, black-out shades. Breakfast buffet was solid and had a lot of different options (e.g., omelet station, yogurt bar, fruit, some hot Egyptian dishes, rolls and pastries, meats/cheeses, pancakes, etc.). Dinner was a la cart and was delicious. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating, especially the restaurant staff. The car transportation to/from Aswan airport was a bit expensive relative to normal transportation prices in this area at $35, but the driver was great and on-time. I'm not sure how the garden rooms are at this property, but I was very happy with my stay!

I can not recommend this hotel. We stayed for 1 night after our Nile cruise before we went back to Luxor. The rooms were in bad repair with peeling walls and bathroom repairs needed. It looked nothing like the picture from booking. Some of the staff were very friendly and deserve credit but several staff members were unfriendly and almost rude, as though we were burdening them by being there. The location is good if you prefer to stay on the mainland, but I would not stay here for an extended period.

The hotel is centrally located near the souk and on the Nile. The pool area is very relaxing and scenic. The breakfast is great with a huge variety of options. The restaurant food was good but not memorable. The best part of the hotel is the staff. They go above and beyond and are genuinely friendly and helpful. Mohamed and Tareq were our waiters and were excellent. We’ll remember this hotel because of them. The only negative is the room. It’s a bit dated. Overall very happy with this hotel.
