Fantastic
This is a cute little hotel. In the WindandSea area of La Jolla. This is more like a glorified, updated, cute little motel. It was clean, had parking, the staff was super helpful. Tricia was extremely helpful when I checked in, and during my stay. They are lucky to have her. The only thing I wish that this hotel had was a bigger refrigerator in the room, there’s no freezer part to store any ice blocks, and the refrigerator is really tiny. I will definitely be back.

This is the first time we stayed at The Shoal in LaJolla. It's a nice little quaint out of the way place, with a pool and hot tub that can be used in the evening. It's very close to restaurants, shopping and the beach. We really enjoyed our stay.

Stayed with kids

The room was spacious and accommodated our family of 5 well! The room was clean and provided a lot of space for our belongings. The only downsides were that the room beside us was really loud (not the hotels fault though) and it was near a main thoroughfare, so it was a bit louder than anticipated. However, the staff was really friendly, accommodating and the hotel offered extra amenities that I wasn’t expecting like “guest of the day” and tokens to rent beach equipment.

Stayed with family

We really appreciated that we were so close to the beach. There is no breakfast available in the lobby, but there's a great breakfast place next door with good coffee and good breakfast burritos. The major downside to this property was the parking. There is a per day parking fee of $15 which seemed excessive to us since we had to pay so much for the room each night. In addition, it was extremely challenging to park in the very small and tight parking lot. On some mornings it was really hard to get out of our parking spot because of how close other cars were to our car.

Fabulous! Newly renovated rooms, comfy mattress, walk to beach, nice pool and hot tub. Conveniently located to a market and several places to eat. Staff very nice!

Fantastic

Solo stay

The staff were incredibly nice and welcoming. I made an error in booking my hotel for the duration of my stay and they assisted me and fixed everything with no fuss. The room was perfect!- clean, bright, extremely comfortable bed. I was shocked at the considerately placed multi charger and used it every single day. My next trip to San Diego? Definitely staying here again!
