Maximize your experience with the natural and cultural heritage of the Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark in this half-day cruise that combines wildlife observation, cave exploration, and mangrove ecology awareness! Starting out from the Tanjung Rhu Jetty, a local expert will take you out for a scenic ride along three rivers: Tanjung Rhu, Kisap, and Kilim. Depending on the tide, you’ll get to visit the Crocodile Cave or bat cave, before heading to the Fish Farm. Throughout the cruise, you’ll pass by sheer limestone cliffs, fiords, sea stacks and other stunning Karst formations formed by rain and tidal movements. You'll also get a chance to spot strange aquatic creatures like ambulatory fish (a type of fish that can move on land for extended periods of time) and otters, as well as rare birds like brahminy kites and kingfishers.
Head out for an exciting guided cruise through the meandering passages of the Kubang Badak River! Meet your local guide at the Kubang Badak Jetty for a brief orientation before hopping on a boat to start your adventure along the coastal river. Unique species of flora and fauna, which have adapted to the ever changing environment in the mangrove forest, are truly beautiful sights to behold. If you're lucky, you'll get to see some exotic animals such as the white-bellied sea eagles, brahminy kites, kingfishers, herons, mudskippers, fiddler crabs and monitor lizards, and otters. After about 90 minutes of exploration, you'll get to savor a delightful lunch at a home of a local villager. You will then be driven to a nearby jungle trail that leads to a quiet pool, where you can take a refreshing dip before concluding your adventure.
This value of this tour is 👌🏻, you will get an amazing view in mangrove, cave, oceans, to see the heartbeat of Langkawi, the wildlife, nature, and even the fossils that existed since 500 million over years, Langkawi’s fossils are the oldest in this region. A day before the trip, someone sent a complete instructions on where and whom to meet via WhatsApp. We had the entire boat to ourself since we booked a private boat, could easily fit up to 10pax. Our boatman, Huzair was knowledgeable and skillful. We started from the Tanjung Rhu jetty, passing through the mangrove with the majestic million years karst rock formation at the back. Passed through the King Kong rock, eagle feeding, swimming monkeys ( don't feed them), the grand canyon of Langkawi, crocodile cave, bat cave, and the compulsory Kilim geoforest sign and the bumpy open sea ride.
ended the trip at a floating restaurant with the already included meal of fried rice with chicken, clear soup, orange and drink. we ordered additional deep fried shrimp and squids which were delicious.
Brilliant tour for those wanting to experience nature! Our guide, Ismail is a soft-spoken gentleman who shared interesting knowledge and facts about mangrove and the biodiversity around the area. This knowledgeable gentleman also told us about the meteorite impact in Langkawi. Highly recommended and suitable for people of all ages.
Driver reached early but office gave him wrong contact number and until he came forward to check if we were the ones who booked then we realized we were waiting for each other for the last 20 mins. We still started our trip on time though at 10am.
We reached Tanjong Rhu jetty at about 1030am, and after visiting the washroom etc, we started the tour at about 1040am.
The private boat option is good for us, as there are 4 of us and it works out cheaper than the shared option. Moreover, we could move easily around the boat to take photos.
First stop was eagle watching. We did not feed the eagles but just watch them soar in the skies, occasionally swooping down to catch fish. The boat guide explained that there are 2 types of eagles in Langkawi, white bellied sea eagle and the reddish brown eagles (also known as Brahminy Kites).
Most of the time, the boat was travelling at fast speed and covered so it wasn’t too hot even though it was close to noon.
Monkeys were plentiful in the mangroves. Next, we passed the crocodile cave (only resemblance, not real crocodiles).
We also went to the bat cave (RM2 per adult), and almost missed the bats. They are hanging from the wall very close to the entrance and if we didn’t turn back and used the torchlight to shine, we would have missed it completely.
We stopped at the Kilim Geoforest Park Signage before jetting off to the open sea passing through the many different rock formations (reminded me of Halong Bay in Vietnam) before we arrived at a floating fish farm restaurant.
As part of the package we had fried rice, and when we enquired to order some seafood, the waitress told us we have to wait for 45 mins. We decided not to order seafood after all and still ended up waiting for like 20mins for the fried rice at the floating fish farm which was rather hot and uncomfortable. This was the only part of the tour we didn’t enjoy.
We were in two minds to book this tour as we had only two days in Langkawi, but we have read some great reviews about this tour and went ahead with it. I would say, it was a great decision to book this tour and that too by Klook & Junglewalla team. This team is very professional and they took some good time to help us understand the flora & flora in this tour. Mangroves, monkeys and small crabs were all there to be witnessed by an enthusiastic traveller like us. We loved this tour and would highly recommend the same too.
Omg what a day! I don’t even know where to start but the summary is that this was an amazing tour! Hermi our guide was outstanding, he is so knowledgeable and feed us with so much interesting information. He made the whole difference. I would have spent more time with him travelling around beautiful Langkawi and learning more facts. Please please take this tour if you come to Langkawi.
