I'm so glad to have chosen this cooking class over a few other alternatives! Was picked up right on time and got the opportunity to see what a local market is like and then cooking at a local home that is decorated so beautifully. It was a bonus that I was the only one in the class and had all the attention of Sorya. I picked herbs from the garden and with Sorya's excellent English, I cooked up four delicious dishes. It was just in time for a sumptuous dinner. Highly recommend for anyone considering a cooking class in Siem Reap!!
Tuk tuk arrived on time with the cook Sorya to go to the village market. Just check the pick time as this is before the class start time.
Cooking was in a quiet village and started with picking herbs for the class from the garden. I loved to see how the oyster mushrooms were grown for the class. I was able to choose 4 meals from a good list of choices. I was the only one in the class which was a great experience.
I didn’t have breakfast and couldn’t eat all what I cooked. I was able to take away desert.
Thank you for a great half day in Siem Reap.
The experience was great! I was picked up from my hotel and drop off on time. The instructions and the food was easy to follow and prepare! It was a good way to immerse yourself in the Cambodian culture through food! We made green mango salad with smoked fish, Khmer bar chicken amok, vegetable curry and banana with coconut milk. It’s a must activity when you visit Siem Reap.
My friends and I attended a cooking class with Teacher Sopheap. We had so much fun while learning at the same time. Although I am not a person who cooks, Teacher Sopheap ensured that all I did cooked well to perfection. The class is very interactive and informative. We first visited the local market to see the ingridients and how they look like. You have the chance to choose the starter, main course and dessert that you want to cook. I chose to cook deep fried spring rolls, fish amok and mango sticky rice. We then proceeded to preparing the ingridients, then the actual cooking. When I tasted my food, it's like a miracle that it tasted real good! I highly recommend this activity to anyone visiting Siem Reap and wanting to experience something different. Akun tom tom, Teacher Sopheap!
A unique and pleasant experience! Good way to see the local morning market and a fun time learning to cook Cambodia dishes! The place of cooking is so clean and nicely set up! The host and teacher are warm and friendly, always making sure of our comfort. I'll recommend this to anybody who wants a memorable experience in Siem Reap!
If you are traveling to Siem Reap and if you're looking for something interesting and enjoyable to do, go ahead and give this a try. You'll get to have a taste of authentic local Khmer food (appetizer, main courses and dessert), plus you'll be able to learn how to make and cook them yourself! The place was nice and relaxing and the service was also great. Certainly one of the highlights of my Siem Reap trip. Highly recommended :)
