About the event
Mosaic Music Series: Ichiko Aoba | Concert Information

Armed with only her voice and delicate guitarwork, Ichiko Aoba quickly developed a cult following in her native Japan after her debut in 2010 at a mere 19 years old. A one-woman orchestra with a penchant for storytelling, Aoba creates entirely new dimensions by marrying folk and ambient music paired with her distinctly dreamy, gossamer voice. Enamoured with the fantastical sounds found in Studio Ghibli and Disney films, Aoba invokes a deep sense of nostalgia and longing with her intricate compositions.
Having now released seven critically acclaimed studio albums, Aoba’s cult following has expanded into a global one, with several performances and tours in Asia, North America, the UK and Europe under her belt. Her recent opus Windswept Adan (2020, co-produced by Taro Umebayashi) was her most ambitious work to date. Envisioned as a soundtrack to a fictional film, the album incorporated strings and other instruments into her sound palette.
Returning to Singapore once again, Aoba invites you into her world in this intimate solo performance at Esplanade Concert Hall.
