852 1461 Photo Exhibition｜Galerie artellex X Jimmy Lam Introduction

Located in Lai Chi Kok, Galerie artellex is a photography and printing studio that mainly exhibits the works of local photographers, successively completed "Dust in Serenity" with the collaboration of Hiuman Lam - author of Hong Kong Reminiscence; worked with senior photojournalist Kan Tai Wong to curate the exhibition "Diana & The Queen's". Most recently completed the photo sharing of "WITHSTAND" with Pakkin Leung; an exhibition of the photographs from his two visits to Poland and Ukraine in 2022-23. These three talented local photographers tell stories to the public through outstanding images and their unique facets and perceptions.

Galerie artellex is collaborating with Jimmy Lam of the photo book Urban Disease to present the exhibition named <852 1461>, from June 9th to July 2nd, 2023. Jimmy has spent three years traveling Hong Kong while connecting his emotions with the city. His photographs combine his emotions with different elements of the city. It is a story of Hong Kong that may be perceived as both funny and sad.

Hong Kong has changed rapidly this year, and this continuous and far-reaching change is affecting many people in Hong Kong, including myself, physically and mentally. Insomnia, nightmares, guilt, with other negative emotions abound, and there are a lot of unspeakable emotions. Heal your heart and express your small emotions only through photos, through the humor in the photos. I hope that one day Hong Kong will become the ideal Hong Kong for Hong Kong people. About Jimmy Lam :

Jimmy Lam was born in Hong Kong in 1986. After completing a photography course at the Kwun Tong Vocational Training Centre, he devoted himself to photography. He used to focus on photographing social movements in Hong Kong. His first photobook, 傘民 Umbrella Citizen, was crowdfunded in 2015. His work "The Ma Shi Po Protest" was awarded the Press Photo of the Year in the 2016 Netizen Prize. In 2020, he released his second photobook, 都市病 Urban Disease, which was exhibited in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Jimmy once joined a group exhibition in Japan.
