Studio Introduction
This studio hopes to integrate creativity and personal characteristics into traditional metalwork through craftsmanship. Through the diversity of techniques and changes in materials, we present different possibilities to the public. The studio is located in Tsuen Wan, a 2-minute walk from The Mills.
Featured Silver Ring Workshop
-Forging- As an important basic technique for metalworking, from shaping to surface texture, the metal is repeatedly hammered to continuously extend it until it reaches the desired shape. In the ring making process, different shapes of metalworking hammers are used to learn how to use angles and forces to create different visual effects for each ring.
-Twist- Twisted rings have always been a popular style, with a subtle sense of endless interweaving. As a basic metalworking technique, the ring is made by repeatedly rotating around the center of the material to create different visual effects. The texture distribution is even, simple and unified, but the overall look is elegant, delicate and orderly.
Workshop Content and Features
- Understand the particularities of metal craftsmanship. Participants can incorporate personal characteristics and creativity into the finished product.
- In order to provide diversity in the finished product, the designer/craftsman will provide guidance on every detail, whether in terms of technology or visual effects.
- The class will provide metal strips of different thicknesses and shapes, depending on the style requirements. The process will include tool introduction, metal cutting, metal twisting principles, welding and other ring making techniques.
- Anyone with jewelry making experience can participate.
- Event Date: Every Monday to Sunday 2:30pm / 7pm
- Production Length: 2.5 - 3 hours Number of people: 1-4
- Finished product: One 925 silver ring
