About Your Host
Hi, I'm Cici, a professional dim sum chef! I have over 10 years of experience teaching Chinese cuisine to expats and foreign tourists in China. I really enjoy popularizing traditional Chinese culinary culture through these courses while interacting with and getting to know people from all over the world. I can do what I love, and unlock cultures and traditions from different countries. Making friends with people from all over the world has also motivated me to learn more traditional local cuisines.
About the Experience
This is an experience of making traditional Shanghai Xiaolongbao (soup dumplings). This experience will not only teach you how to make Xiaolongbao, but also allow you to make friends with strangers from all over the world, and understand Chinese food and dining culture. In 2 hours, you can unlock the mysterious Xiaolongbao skills and bring the technique home to make authentic Xiaolongbao for your family and friends.
About the Venue
The venue is located on the bustling Huaihai Middle Road. Walking through the alley, my space is hidden at the end of the alley. It is hidden in the city, but inside it is a very open co-working space. Here, you can see both the old Shanghai alley culture and the international modern Shanghai.
Experience Flow
We will start with introductions, then start with making and kneading the dough, mixing the filling, rolling the wrappers, and hand-in-hand teaching how to make a Xiaolongbao with a thin wrapper and large filling. Then, we will steam them and enjoy the fruits of our labor together. Finally, we will take pictures to commemorate the experience. Generally, I will prepare two kinds of fillings, one is pork, and the other is vegetarian. This is a vegetarian-friendly experience.
