Shoraian Kyoto Kaiseki Cuisine – Arashiyama, Kyoto

The restaurant got tranquil environment and the meals are delicious. All waitresses are very professional and kind. The tofu cuisine is one of the best that we had experienced in Japan. Overall thumbs-up for this lunch experience and we highly recommended!!!

Best Tofu Kaiseki I have ever ate, a very good dining experience.

Located in the park, it's recommended to visit after taking the scenic train, making it very convenient. Sitting inside, you can directly see the Hozugawa River, with special tofu dishes and artist collaborations, a feast for the senses of taste and sight!

Restaurant Ambiance: The ambiance of the restaurant is traditional Japanese in style. It is a perfect occasion to wear a kimono to enjoy your kaiseki there. However, I highly recommend wearing comfortable shoes, such as sandals rather than clogs, for the rugged path to the restaurant. Taste: Since the kaiseki focuses on a tofu theme, the cuisine is expected to be a bland diet. Despite this, the cold sliced tofu is my favourite. This is because the chef first makes the tofu firmer than usual, then slices it into thin pieces to enhance its texture, resembling shaved ice. With a drop of soy sauce, the tofu becomes highly palatable.

I originally thought I'd finish the meal in half an hour, but with the delicate tofu dishes, it took me an hour and a half. The environment is elegant, and even though I was alone, I still occupied a large table, which I felt bad about.
