What to expect
Combining surfing and paddling, SUP (Stand Up Paddle) boarding can be enjoyed anywhere there's water. It doesn't require advanced surfing balance skills, nor is swimming a necessity. It's easy to learn and a brand new way to explore Lanyu's blue waters. In addition to regular sessions, sunrise sessions at Dongqing Bay, the most beautiful location, are available from June to October, offering an unforgettable water journey.

Q: What should I wear for the SUP paddleboarding experience? You will definitely get wet during the activity, so please wear a swimsuit or light T-shirt and clothing that you don’t mind getting wet. Q: What time and where do we meet? Please arrive at the meeting point (No. 138-1, Dongqing, Lanyu Township, Taitung County) or the designated location notified by the instructor 5-10 minutes before the activity time. Q: Can I do SUP even if I can’t swim? Yes, you can! Our itineraries are suitable for beginners and include SUP leashes and buoyancy vests (life jackets). The SUP board is also a common rescue tool, so you can enjoy this water activity even if you can’t swim. Q: Is there a photo service? Can you take aerial photos for me? Throughout the activity, the instructor will take photos with a GoPro or mobile phone. All photos are free of charge. The number of photos and shooting angles cannot be specified, but the instructor will do their best to take beautiful photos for everyone! Aerial photography can be purchased at the time of booking and will be arranged depending on the weather conditions. All photos will be uploaded to the cloud on the evening of the activity, and a link will be provided to participants for download, which can be completed within 2 weeks. Q: What if it rains or there is a typhoon on the day of the event? The activity will proceed as usual in light rain. If the wind and waves are too strong, the instructor will assess the situation and notify you whether the activity will proceed. In the event of typhoons or other force majeure factors, you will be notified before the activity. Q: Is it guaranteed that I will see the sunrise at the sunrise tour? There is about an 80% chance of seeing the sunrise in summer, but it still depends on the weather on the day. The mountain scenery and the ocean in Lanyu are also very beautiful! If it rains during the sunrise tour, the instructor will assess the situation and inform you in advance whether the tour will proceed. Please make sure to keep your mobile phone accessible. Q: Can I not wear a buoyancy vest (life jacket)? For safety reasons, we recommend that all participants wear a buoyancy vest to participate in the activity. When taking pictures, you can evaluate your own ability and, after fastening the foot rope and with the instructor’s consent, temporarily remove the buoyancy vest, but you must bear the risk yourself in the event of falling into the water.
