Kayaking and Safari Tour in Akaroa

The tour is so amazing!! We saw the landscape of the Akaroa and the went to the Flea Bay for kayaking. We saw the blue penguins and a lot of sea seals in the bay and finally the penguin nest up on the glass.

Kevin led this tour, and on the way to Flea Bay, we were able to briefly stop and overlook the entire Akaroa from a high vantage point. Kevin also introduced us to the local history and natural scenery, which was very interesting! The kayaking trip in Flea Bay was relaxing and enjoyable under Kevin's guidance. Along the way, we saw abundant natural scenery, as well as penguins, seals, and various birds. It was great value for the money!

Our guide Ben and Maddie was very patient and professional. Highly knowledgeable of the area and explains aspects of sea kayak to us all. We saw the little penguins eggs and seals on rocks plus bonuses of spotting hector dolphins. Make sure to bring a water proof pouch to take pictures.

Great kayak trip! Our guide, Kevin, was fantastic—truly passionate about sharing the history of Akaroa and the reserve. The trip was well arranged, and we were lucky to see both seals and penguins along the way.

It was a very interesting activity. It was a very meaningful time because we could see wild animals and hear various stories about Akaroa. In fact, we had never kayaked before so we were very worried. It would be a lie to say it wasn't hard, but if you are a woman who is not used to rowing, it will be quite hard so be prepared🤣😂 It will be hard if there are two womenㅠㅠ One of the two must be able-bodied ㅋㅋㅋ Also, if you are not used to English, it may be difficult to listen, but the guide was so kind that we were able to have fun without any danger. (+ A tip: Make sure to bring a waterproof pouch and wear it around your neck to take lots of pictures! We came in a hurry so we couldn't bring it, so there aren't many videos or pictures from our kayakㅠㅠ)

The activities are very fulfilling and the penguins and seals are so cute! The strait is beautiful~ It’s worth going again~ People without a car can take the Akaroa one-day bus, which is only available for one day (you can buy it on the official bus website or give cash to the driver). We only took the bus when our friends took us on the way back🚌

Canoeing provides participants with an excellent opportunity to connect with nature. Paddling on a canoe, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of lakes and mountains, azure oceans or pleasant rivers. This kind of close contact with nature makes people feel peaceful, relaxed and comfortable, while also appreciating the beauty of the natural environment.

We saw seals, which were super cute. It was a physically demanding activity. We also saw blue-eyed penguins. The scenery was very beautiful. I recommend participating! ! ! worth

We did the tour and kayaking on an unseasonably hot day. We were first brought high up on the mountains on a 4WD which included stops at lookouts and brief introduction of the local fauna. We were then driven to the penguin sanctuary where we changed into kayaking suits provided. A short walk away is the beach where we received instructions on how to kayak. We then have to carry the kayaks down from a perch all the way across the rocky beach into the water. That was the hardest part as the kayak was soooooo heavy. My female friend and I tried our best and really couldn't carry more than a few unsteady steps before we had to drop the kayak. The guide ended up helping us and we half dragged the kayaks into the water. The kayaking itself was ok, we went along the coast and spotted some animals including wild penguins. The kayaking distance was long enough that our arms were v tired by the end of it. My back hurt too as it was tiring to sit straight the whole time so I tried leaning against the back, but there's no cushioning so I ended up with a bruise along my spine. The worst part was having to carry the kayaks back up when we were already so tired 😢 Our clothes was also slightly wet despite the kayaking skirt, so bring a change of clothes. There was a rush to leave on the same car with another tour group, so we only had a short glance and introduction of a penguin's nest they made. Overall, I'm glad that the money we paid went to the penguin sanctuary instead of just a regular tour operator, but the kayaking was way more physically exhausting than expected so be prepared, and I won't recommend to people without good physique.

awesome experience. was really cool to see the amazing views, the driver guide was so knowledgeable about birds which I'm super excited about too! the kayaking was fun, I do wish I'd done the morning one as the afternoon had some bigger swells and I felt a little sea-sick, but at least in the boat it wasn't too bad. We saw NZ fur seals, a variable oystercatcher, penguins, cormorants, and quite a number of other birds!
