Reviews summarya beautiful place. the guide was amazing. the travel well organized. the lunch food is okay, you buy the drinks. the only issue i had was during the start of the trip. it was a bit disorganized where i had to run bus by bus looking for my tour because there will be a lot of bus in the meeting point with different meteora tours and you wont know where is yours. i recommend you go early for buffer time, look at your name in the list the drivers carry rather than asking them, coz they dont know which is which either if u just show them your ticket. otherwise, it was a fun trip. 10/10
One of the best highlights of my Athens trip. Even though it was a long trip, around 4 hours one way, it was organized very well, so we could have enough time exploring 3 monasteries and take some photos with great views in the backdrop. Transport was comfortable, and the guide was super nice and helpful, and explained all the details we needed to know about the area. Well worth the time and money. Recommended for anyone.
Travelled 1 Dec 2025, weather was crisp, there were no crowds, it was worth paying the additional 5 Euros to enter each monastery. lunch and dinner stops were expensive and not tasty. views were amazing. would definitely recommend it.
Our tour guide, Chiment from Canada, and our driver, Tossle (sorry if I spelled your name wrong), were amazing! They showed us all 6 monasteries in Meteora with great passion and excellent time management. They also shared a lot of interesting information about this unique place. Everything was well organized, and we never felt rushed. I highly recommend this tour!
We had a wonderful time at Meteora and recommend taking this day tour if you are short on time. We found the day to be very comfortable on the coaches and the time allocated to each open monastery was adequate. We had plenty of time for photographs, for wandering through the monasteries, and marveling at this incredibly unique natural place. Maria, our guide, was excellent, very comprehensive, and used visual aids. There are a lot of steps but they are not steep and opportunities to rest on the pathways.
Itinerary: The tour bus is very easy to find, as it's basically right by the train station. The drivers nearby are very helpful. Tour Guide: The tour guide provides detailed information about the unique characteristics of each monastery. They are also very responsive and helpful when answering questions. Scenery: I believe this trip to the outskirts of Athens is a must-do day trip. The scenery is spectacular, with different monasteries perched on the cliffs. You might even see rock climbing enthusiasts scaling the cliffs.
Visiting Meteora was one of the most unforgettable and inspiring experiences I have ever had. Seeing the breathtaking monasteries perched high on top of the mountains was truly extraordinary and unlike anything I had seen before. The beauty of the landscape, combined with the peaceful and sacred atmosphere of these holy places, made the visit deeply meaningful and memorable. It was an incredible experience that I will always cherish.
The bus will be waiting at the main entrance of the Athens station, departing at 8 AM. It's recommended to arrive early to snag a window seat on the right side for better views. Around 10 AM, there will be a 30-minute rest stop with drinks, meals, and snacks available, but they are a bit pricey. We'll arrive at the base of the attraction around 12:30 PM for lunch, which will be a simple meal of carbs + meat or fish + Greek salad, before transferring to a smaller bus to go up the mountain. The tour guide, Nancy, is very dedicated and provides detailed information about all the attractions. The tour starts from the base of the mountain, visiting several monasteries along the way up. Each monastery visit lasts about 30 minutes to an hour. Two of the monasteries involve climbing more stairs, which can be a bit tiring. The guide also stops at scenic spots along the way, giving everyone ample time to take photos. We'll depart for Athens around 6:30 PM, stopping at the same rest stop for another 30-minute break. Arrival back in Athens is estimated around 10:30 PM. Overall, it was a great experience, as the views of Meteora are truly spectacular.
Great value for money, with beautiful and comfortable scenery. Although the drive was long, the driver was steady, and the local guide explained the attractions clearly and took excellent care of the travelers, even proactively helping everyone take photos! Their smiles and attitudes were excellent. Highly commendable. The lunch break provided midway was a bit rushed, but the food quality was good. The only drawback was that the Wi-Fi on the tour bus wasn't working that day.
This is a tour to Meteora in a tourist bus that seats around 60 people, and it takes about 4 hours to get there. There's a rest stop about halfway. I didn't opt for the lunch, but you can access a buffet-style restaurant for €30. The tour included visits to three monasteries (entrance fee €5 each), which was more than enough for me. Some restrooms charge a fee, so it's best to use the free ones when you can.
