- As a famous Taoist mountain, Mount Laoshan is known as "the famous mountain on the sea", where you can enjoy magnificent sunrises and seas of clouds.
- The essence of the tour is concentrated in the Jufeng and Liuqing-Yangkou routes, which together constitute the natural beauty of Laoshan.
- Jufeng is where Laoding, the main peak of Laoshan, is located. It is mainly for climbing, where you can enjoy magnificent chaotic rocks and sea views.
- The South Line (Liuqing-Yangkou) is close to the coastline and has the Taiqing Palace and the challenging Mitiandong Cave.
Mount Laoshan is located in the eastern part of Qingdao, bordering the Yellow Sea to the east and south, and is known as "the famous mountain on the sea". Its highest peak, Jufeng, is about 1100 meters above sea level. Laoshan has become a famous Taoist mountain for its majesty, grandeur, uniqueness, and beauty. Its Taoist temples, sunrises, and seas of clouds are all well-known.
Mount Laoshan is mainly composed of seven major scenic areas: Jufeng, Liuqing, Taiqing, Qipanshi, Yangkou, Beijiushui, and Hualou. There are four tour routes in total, including three land routes (South Line, East Line, Central Line) and one water route. The scenery of these scenic spots: Jufeng Xuzhao (Sunrise at Jufeng), Taiqing Shuiyue (Moon over Taiqing Lake), Haijiao Xiandun (Immortal Pier on the Sea), Hualou Dieshi (Stacked Stones of Hualou), Jiushui Mingyi (Clear Ripples of Jiushui), etc., together form the Twelve Scenic Spots of Laoshan.
Hualou is far from the sea and not in the Laoshan scenic area, so there are fewer tourists. Beijiushui is famous for its water, with streams and springs everywhere in the scenic area, and beautiful scenery. For general tourists, the truly worthwhile routes are Jufeng and Liuqing-Yangkou. One day for each of these two routes is enough. Jufeng and Yangkou are also where the natural beauty of Laoshan lies.
Liuqing-Yangkou, also known as the South Line, is an earlier developed scenic area of Laoshan. It is close to the coastline and has the famous attraction Taiqing Palace, which is the route most people take to visit Laoshan. The basic route to enter the scenic area is Liuqing to Taiqing Palace Scenic Area to Huayan Temple, with Yangkou as the end point. Since the essence of this route is Yangkou, it is recommended that you arrange your time for visiting the previous attractions yourself.
Taiqing Palace – the place where the story of the Taoist priest of Laoshan in Liaozhai occurred. That year, Pu Songling came here, was inspired by the Taiqing Palace, and wrote "The Taoist Priest of Laoshan". Tourists can see the wall where the Taoist priest of Laoshan, as described by Pu Songling, passed through walls. Huayan Temple – the existing Buddhist temple in Laoshan.
Since Yangkou is close to the Yellow Sea, you can enjoy the sea and the breeze here. Of course, in addition to the beautiful scenery, Yangkou also has the challenging Mitiandong Cave. This cave is winding, steep, narrow, and so dark that you can't see your hand in front of your face. In narrow places, you can barely squeeze through, which greatly increases the fun of the tour. You can walk or take a cable car to Mitiandong Cave. After reaching the top of the mountain, you can take photos, enjoy the scenery, and overlook the Yellow Sea. Also, remember to bring a flashlight so you can fully appreciate the beautiful scenery inside the cave.
Besides Yangkou, the second beautiful scenery of Laoshan is in the Jufeng Scenic Area. Jufeng is where the main peak of Laoshan is located, with Laoding as the highest point. This area is mainly for climbing and is a more physically demanding part of Laoshan tourism. Jufeng has magnificent stacked rocks. On a clear day, you can see the sea, and on a cloudy day, you can see the sea of clouds. Watching the sunrise at Laoding, you can see a beautiful and charming scene.
