Scenic trains in Japan
The Sanyo Shinkansen connects Osaka to Fukuoka on Kyushu Island and, established in 1975, is Japan's second-oldest Shinkansen line. It offers five services: Nozomi, Hikari, Kodama, Mizuho, and Sakura. Nozomi is the fastest, reaching speeds of 300 km/h (185 mph). While it is covered by the JR Pass, an additional ticket is required for travel on this service.
