This was our first visit to Portugal, and Porto Palácio Hotel gave us a wonderful first impression. The entrance is beautiful and grand, and check-in was quick and seamless. We arrived early, so the hotel stored our luggage and invited us to enjoy a complimentary drink and nuts at the rooftop bar while we waited. The panoramic views over Porto were incredible, especially at sunset. Our room was spacious, comfortable and easy to navigate. The toilet and bath/shower being in separate rooms worked well for us. The minibar was a nice touch, although it left limited space in the fridge for our own drinks. The TV was modern and easy to use, with Chromecast and useful information about the hotel and local area, although connecting to Chromecast was temperamental. The hotel’s WhatsApp service was also really convenient for non-urgent requests, such as booking an airport transfer or asking general questions. Overall, the room was clean, but we did notice some dusty areas on the floor and some wear and staining around the bath. While these were only minor issues, we expected the bathroom to be a little more spotless for a hotel of this standard. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to try the spa, restaurant or gastrobar, but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend Porto Palácio Hotel.

Fantastic
From the moment we arrived, this hotel exceeded every expectation. The atmosphere is wonderfully warm and welcoming — the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home, and that genuine friendliness truly sets this place apart from other luxury properties. The rooms are immaculately appointed and incredibly comfortable, offering the kind of restful sleep you only dream about on vacation. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, making for a seamless and relaxing experience throughout our stay. One absolute highlight; do not miss the rooftop at sunset. As the sky transforms into a canvas of golds, pinks, and deep purples over the horizon while the sun sinks into Atlantic ocean, the rooftop becomes one of the most magical spots you'll ever find yourself in. Whether you're sipping a cocktail or simply soaking in the view, it's the kind of moment that stays with you long after you've checked out. If you're looking for a hotel that combines genuine comfort, heartfelt hospitality, and breathtaking views, look no further. We'll absolutely be back. Highly recommended for couples, solo travelers, and anyone who appreciates the finer things done with soul.

The hotel is a nice place to stay if you’re looking for a quiet spot. The housekeeping is over the top. They keep things clean and do it with friendly faces all the time. I’ve got a few issues with some upkeep. The pool is in the basement and really is not inviting. I had very little air conditioning in my room. Complained three times. The first time, no action taken. The second and third, I heard someone outside my room and it looked like they simply reset the A/C. No one ever verified if things were good and out of 8 days, none were satisfactory. The beds/mattresses are also reaching the end of their life. As much as I liked the location, there are other hotels nearby that I would choose next time.

Had issues with our airconditioning. They were not able to fix it in the unit but they moved us and upgraded us to a suite. Well done.

We recently stayed at this hotel during our trip to Porto and had a pleasant experience overall. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the location was excellent. However, there were a few service issues worth noting. Compared to another hotel from the same brand in Lisbon, the service here felt inconsistent. In Lisbon, bottled water was provided without issue, while in Porto we were told there would be a charge, even when requesting it directly at reception. Additionally, during our stay, housekeeping did not replenish tissue paper or vanity kits, and we had to request them ourselves. I’m sharing this feedback respectfully because the hotel has great potential, and improving consistency and housekeeping attention would enhance the guest experience.
