The room was nice large & comfortable however there was no lift& the staff spoke little or no English so used translator on their phone & promised someone will come to resolve room problems however nobody ever comes ! Even toilet rolls I had to collect from reception.its sadly frustrating & only resolve by Mongolian friends phoning the hotel to complain .in 11days my bed was changed once & vacuumed the same day

The bed was clean and comfortable. The Japanese air conditioner was fun to figure out, and a saving grace. The TV worked. The Internet was fast. Gandan monastery, several restaurants, shopping (State Dept) and pubs are in striking distance.
The shower/bathroom combination is not for the uninitiated, but the water was hot. I took comfort in how quiet this part of the city is, but you're still close to everything.
It's a bargain, and kind of a time capsule if you remember UB from 20 years ago before all the crazy development that's happened. The staff of women are quick, and hard working, and talk to people from all over the world with ease.
Summary: you are paying for the location more than the quality of the room, and it checks all the boxes if you just need an affordable place to crash without bells and whistles.

You kind of get what you pay for at Kharaa. It did not cost much relatively speaking, location is ok, fairly quiet but its old and drab.
The reception is faceless and unwelcoming. Note there is no lift if assigned upper floors. The room furniture is old, shabby and that dated heavy 'brown' type. I had a sticky floor, so it may be swept but not cleaned. The bathroom is tiny and needs maintenance, showerhead broken and so small the shower curtain is all over you. Good freestanding aircon unit.

Seemed to do the bare minimum
Limited English speakers ( only one)
Management seemed disengaged
Advertisement did not match what really was there ( food- room -service)
