For the price of a massive bus tour, we got a 5-person small group. It saved us so much waiting time and we loved meeting new people!
We covered so much in one day: Yehliu Geopark (plus the cheapest souvenir shop!), Yin Yang Sea, Golden Waterfall, Jiufen Old Street, Shifen Waterfall, and sky lanterns at Shifen Old Street.
A huge shoutout to our guide/driver, Kevin! He was incredibly patient and accommodating, which was perfect since I was traveling with a senior citizen. He even went out of his way to take our photos.
It was a hot and tiring day, but New Taipei is amazing! Hotel pick-up was super convenient. At drop-off, Kevin didn't know our hotel (Hotel 6 - Wannien at Wan Nian Building) had car access and dropped us at the nearest station. It was totally okay though—we enjoyed walking the street afterwards and got boba!
Highly recommend booking this if you want to see a lot of spots comfortably!

A short but interesting trip to Jiufen. It was quite touristy (probably because it was a holiday), but still a nice experience overall. Big shoutout to our guide, Ms. Coco, she did an amazing job and was super nice. She really made the trip better.

Fantastic 5.0
We had a tour booked with A Wei and it was a wonderful experience. We were picked up directly from our hotel, which made the day very convenient and stress-free. His tour plan was very well organised, and he was punctual, friendly, and professional throughout the day. The itinerary covered Yehliu Geopark, Golden Waterfall, Jiufen Old Street, Cat Village, Shifen Waterfall, and the lantern experience.
We had a great chance to explore Yehliu Geopark and Jiufen Old Street, but unfortunately heavy rain started later in the day. Despite the weather, A Wei still took us to all the remaining spots and kindly showed us around as much as possible.
This was our first time in Taiwan, and we felt very welcomed and well looked after. We truly enjoyed the tour and would highly recommend A Wei to anyone visiting Taiwan.

5 stars for everything!! You HAVE to book this tour if you visit Taiwan. Tommy leads the tour and he gave us the best day. He’s very talented at switching between speaking in Chinese and English equally to share wonderful information. He reminds me of a teacher. I traveled with my 65 year old mother who walks with a cane, but still has the energy and fights through her bad knees. Tommy gave us so much time in each location to explore and she didn’t have any problems, despite climbing stairs and walking trails in the mountain! Wulai was a very serene and beautiful place… It was our last tour during our visit to Taiwan and I’m so glad we did not miss it. The drive itself was gorgeous. Tommy crafted the best itinerary to visit the mountain, the hotel at top (there’s a beautiful pond with a creek & coffee shop up there), the cable car ride with amazing views of waterfall, cute train ride to zip us down to the indigenous village, & plenty of time to walk around and eat/shop. Book Tommy!!!

Fantastic 5.0
Shifen Waterfalls: Try going to the other side to get the best views. The tour has enough time here, so make sure you really soak in the beauty of the falls, not just take photos.
Shifen Lanterns: We’re happy with the store where we bought our lanterns. Richard (guide) also helped us buy peanut ice cream roll and chicken leg. We even got a $5 discount at the tea shop for our drinks.
Cat Village: Super relaxing place. The cats are so fat and there are so many! The view is also really nice. Definitely one of our happy places since we’re a cat-loving family.
Jiufen: Magical. Best to book the NIGHT JIUFEN, you arrive before night and get to see the lanterns light up. It’s crowded, but just be patient.
Guide Richard: I like how he shared so much information about Taiwan, not just about the the places on the list. He made the trip fun, gave helpful tips, and kept everything organized. We received timely updates, and we never felt rushed. Thank u for writing on my pad! (Just keep walking)

Although it rained for most of the trip, making the climb more difficult and risky, our leader was incredibly attentive and taught us many helpful climbing techniques. In the end, it was absolutely worth the experience, as Yushan is one of Taiwan’s most remarkable hiking trails.
