Take a scenic day trip to Northern Thailand from Chiang Mai and explore the beauty of the quiet countryside at a steady pace. Travel by van from your hotel to the rice paddies of the rural areas of the north, where your biking adventure will commence. Together with your guide, you'll make your way around the lush fields and witness the charming, slow paced lives of the locals in the area. Witness the way of life of the farmers, as well as the craftsmen who specialize in different trades, and bike your way to the Sankampaeng markets, where you'll find fresh local produce sold daily. On your way to your last stop of the day, make a quick visit to some local temples and make an offering the traditional way. Finally, you'll end up at the Sankampaeng Hot Springs where you can take a quick dip in the natural mineral springs that are believed to have curative properties. But be careful - those springs could get quite hot! At the end of the bike tour, you'll travel by van once more back to the city to enjoy the rest of your evening.
Thoroughly enjoyed the ride which is run by Chiang Mai Mountain Bike and Kayak in small groups with a guide in front and one at the back. Full protective gear is provided. After being picked up you are taken to the office to get kitted up, watch a briefing and then driven to the top of the mountain to start the fun ride downhill.
The scenery on the way down is beautiful with a quick stop at a coffee shop then back on the bikes for an exhilarating ride down to the lake where you are provided lunch and if you want can go for a swim.
Everything was great, my only comment is that some of the bikes need to be updated as they get quite a bashing on these runs, especially the rear brake wear. Other than that safety is paramount and the guides are brilliant!
Will definitely be back soon to try the other routes.
Great outdoor activity and away from the shopping and bustling city life. Crisp morning breeze blowing in the backdrop of rows paddy field makes our 35km ride literally a breeze (not warm during the Dec month). But you need sone level of fitness because some stretch is uphill and downhill ride. IA few pitstops for break and picture taken along the way. Expect exactly what is listed in the iternary. Special thanks to Jao who took great care of us and shown part of Chiang Mai we never seen before. Don't worry about languages she can handle 4 other than English. :)
Great experience, the trail is manageable for someone like me, who rarely ride a bicycle. Lek, our guide is very friendly and cheerful. The bike provided is really light, the ride going uphill become much easier with their bike. Will definitely join them again for different routes when I revisit Chiang Mai next time.
Great bikes and experienced guides (Ahkom, James & Vivi). (A bit of a bummer that the waterfall was closed (by no fault of theirs). Would have been nice to cool off and chill around the waterfall.) This is a well run company, trail was well thought through, You get a 4WD escort through the journey - in case you need a break from the steep road inclines. Plenty of hydration and stops offered along the way. Go for this, even if you are a beginner, the guys will know how to adjust accordingly. Great trip!
I can not recommend this enough! The ride was beautiful and the perfect level of challenging for someone like me (never bikes and not the best cardio haha). The guide, Lek, was awesome and knowledgeable. The views were stunning and peaceful! Really worthwhile if you're considering it. I went alone and met some awesome people along the way.
You get to see so much beautiful scenery that you otherwise never would! The bike ride can be a bit challenging at times, but it’s also lots of fun riding through the countryside and stopping off at different scenic viewpoints. The tour finishes with a nice Thai lunch at a local restaurant. Overall, highly recommended.
