it was a wonderful experience from boarding the ship to having a beautiful tour around the farm. The farm was neat and clean, the animals were well adjusted to human presence, and the dogs were perfect at their jobs. The tea was all you need to cap off the afternoon while looking at the picture-perfect view.
A lovely morning cruise on the TSS Earnslaw, a must do when in Queenstown. We only did a shorter cruise this time as we had plan for the afternoon but we did visit Walter Peak farm a few years ago.
We were pleasantly surprised how well the old steamer has been maintained and even updated since our last visit. The coffee shop and the piano player were a lovely addition!
Everything is perfect! Remember to go earlier to queue up, we were a bit late and didnt manage to get a good seat in the cruise. Parking space is not easy to find nearby the pier as well. The cruise was very scenic, the BBQ lunch was very tasty with lots of options, didnt have crowd of fighting for food. The farm exploration with the sheep show was a lot of fun too!! Totally worth the money!
The 4WD adventure takes you through Arrowtown and parts of Queenstown which you would be unable to access and even if you could, there's nothing like the knowledge of a local guide. The passion and enthusiasm of the guide was incredible and you have a walking Wikipedia of all things Queenstown along with an expert 4WD driver!
If the ride in the 4WD was not exciting enough for you, the Shotover Jet will guarantee you plenty of spills and thrills. The driver of the jet boat will have you spun around in the canyon and you will be experiencing wetness. The driver also provides you with plenty of history and interesting facts about the canyon and the boat itself. Not to be missed.
Good experience specially for the kids, they can see how steam boat works, can go to machine room. The scenery during the journey was amazing, the farm very beautiful specially the garden. The lunch buffet very yummy. The only thing is the 3 hours tour not enough. After the show and the buffet 3 hours very fast finished, we cant enjoy to walk around the farm.
We saw the NZ back country, sheep and dairy cows grazing, spring lambs, a rejuvenating beech forest, turquoise lakes, Pig and Pigeon islands, Mt Aspiring, felt the strong winds that blow you off and stir up the summer dust. We felt we saw a part of NZ far from the tourist zone. It was simply beautiful.
