Jazz Signatures: Ambrose Akinmusire Quartet | Concert Introduction

This July, the Jazz Signatures series opens with the smooth sounds of globally acclaimed Ambrose Akinmusire and his long-standing quartet.
One of the most important and innovative young players of our time, Nigerian-American trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire has attracted huge attention on the international jazz scene. His uniquely creative sound merges influences from jazz, classical, blues and hip-hop, producing tones that are pure and delicate, with a melodious vocal quality.
Playing alongside Akinmusire are long-time collaborators Sam Harris on piano, Harish Raghavan on bass and Justin Brown on drums performing a selection of works from the quartet albums A Rift in Decorum: Live at the Village Vanguard and On the Tender Spot of Every Calloused Moment, as well as unreleased original compositions.
The concert marks Akinmusire’s first-ever performance in Hong Kong.
