HKwalls 2023 Street Art Festival Introduction

HKwalls 2023 street art festival returns for its 8th edition welcoming international and local artists to paint large murals all across Hong Kong’s Central and Western District from 18 – 26 March.

Over the 9-day festival, HKwalls will also host dope workshops, guided tours and artists talks around town, with special highlights at Soho House including an exhibition featuring past and present HKwalls artists, and a 90-minute HKwalls x Chivas presents: I Rise We Rise Art Battle between two teams of artists, in front of a live audience to wrap up the festival on the evening of 26 March! HKwalls x Sino Art Cruise

HKwalls is introducing a spectacular animated art piece on the LED façades of Tsim Sha Tsui Centre and Empire Centre, which are facing the Victoria Harbour, supported by Sino Group.

Designed by the acclaimed Spanish artist J. Demsky, the contemporary piece features a futuristic skyline in the middle of a science fiction narrative reminiscent of a scene in the movie “Ghost in the Shell”. This echoes with the artist’s signature style of balancing the future with nostalgia and radical creativity with exact science rooted in the interconnected relationship between space and time.

City As Studio features some of the most renowned artists who helped shape the global graffiti and street art movements from the start. HKwalls strives to promote the best up-and-coming and active street artists of today. Join us for a discussion with artists and curators of both, and hear first-hand how the movements have grown, how they are evolving, and the panel members’ speculation for the future.

To wrap up the Festival, HKwalls will host a fun whisky & art evening experience with live Hip Hop DJ sets, whiskies and an exciting street art battle at Soho House, Sheung Wan on 26 March 2023, sponsored by Chivas Regal.

HKWALLS 2023 returns to the Central and Western District! This year, we are bringing together international and local street artists, including Innerfields, Koga one, Mara, Lauren YS, Jurne and many more, to bring a different dimension to our familiar street corners. Sign up for a guided tour by Wanderlust Walks’ lead storyteller Alexandra Unrein to see the wonderful mural creations with us!

Wanderlust Walks’ lead storyteller Alexandra Unrein will provide an in-depth and stimulating tour of this year’s newest murals alongside existing artwork already in Central Western District. Held in English and Cantonese, each tour is about an hour long and is completely free.
