Intangible Cultural Heritage Tour of Our Chinese Traditional Pastries

The tour guide, Jayden, is very acknowledgeable and patient in explaining the Culture, History, Arts and traditional use of each pastry equipment and preparation methods. Very interesting learning and pastry testing session.

Our visit to Heyladtour Chinese Pastry Shop was made even more memorable with Jayden as our young tour guide. Despite his age, Jayden is impressively knowledgeable and shared fascinating insights into Chinese traditions, culture, and the history behind each pastry. From explaining the symbolism of festive treats to the artistry of traditional baking methods, he made the experience both educational and enjoyable. It wasn’t just a shop visit—it was a cultural journey guided by someone with a true passion for heritage.

Guide was very knowledgeable and informative, tour not only consisted of how they make pastries but also about it's history and superstitions around them. We were also given numerous samples of freshly made snacks as the tour goes along. The 2 hour duration was also just nice and not overly lengthy. Overall would recommend to anyone interested in how and why our local traditional snacks came to be

Jayden is an expert on Chinese cultural practices and made the session very insightful and interesting. He could answer any question we threw at him! There was a good variety of items to sample and great value for the ticket price. It's also a rare chance to step into the kitchen of a traditional pastry shop.

Guide was able to articulate the crux of the Chinese culture and its background, more than what was produced at Gin Thye. The Cantonese, Teochew, Hokkien culture was well displayed through the guide's explanation.
