I recently took a trip to Ha Long Bay, and overall, it was a very satisfying experience. The natural scenery is extraordinary—the towering limestone formations in the middle of the sea create a unique and iconic panorama. The activities offered are also quite comprehensive, ranging from kayaking and visiting caves to enjoying the sunset on board the boat. Pros: • Very beautiful and distinctive natural scenery • Varied activities (kayaking, cave visits, cruise experience) • Suitable for both relaxation and light exploration Cons: • Some areas were quite crowded with tourists • The time spent at each spot felt limited Overall, Ha Long Bay is a highly recommended destination for tourists visiting Vietnam. You really can't appreciate the magnificent natural beauty of Ha Long Bay from photos; you have to experience it in person. I highly recommend it. Luckily, our tour guide was Johnny Handsome, who many others have praised in their reviews. He worked hard to make the tour exciting and ensured we traveled safely and smoothly. The driver was a bit gruff but drove very safely. Since my hotel was in a complicated location, the tour started with a motorcycle transfer. We then rode a comfortable large bus on the highway, stopping twice for restroom breaks at souvenir shops and a pearl store during the approximately 2.5-hour journey. Upon arriving at the pier, we were immediately escorted onto the boat for a lunch buffet. The food was reasonably good. Drinks were available for an additional charge. We first chose between a bamboo boat, a kayak, or a speedboat (with an extra fee), and then split up to enjoy our chosen activity. The bamboo boat was rowed for us, allowing me to take photos at a leisurely pace. Kayaking seemed challenging for beginners, as they had to navigate through many passing bamboo boats. Next, we moved a short distance by boat to visit a cave. The cave tour was about 2 km and took approximately an hour. The initial ascent to the entrance was a steep staircase, and there were many ups and downs on stairs afterward, which was honestly tiring. However, there were spots with panoramic views of Ha Long Bay, where I was able to take beautiful photos. After that, we moved a short distance by boat to Ti Top Island, where you can swim or climb to an observation deck. To be honest, my legs were tired from the cave, so I just relaxed on the boat, haha. The day concluded with a sunset party. It was very simple, with tea, a small amount of red wine, small mango cookies, fried rice crackers, and watermelon. You could order beer, cocktails, and juices for an additional charge, but it was a bit disappointing. Nevertheless, the sunset over Ha Long Bay was incredibly beautiful and amazing. We spent the entire day in the same seats on the same boat, so I could leave my belongings (except valuables) and travel light for sightseeing. On the way back, we stopped at one souvenir shop for a restroom break, and I was driven close to my hotel while dozing off. It was a fulfilling and enjoyable day.
I was worried about the restrooms when I joined the tour. However, there were two breaks every hour, which made me feel very comfortable participating. Once we boarded the cruise ship, we joined other tour groups and sailed around the islands. The restrooms there were surprisingly dirty, which was a bit of a shock. But perhaps that's part of the fun of international travel! Even if you don't speak English, I think you can definitely participate in this tour as long as you can understand the times. When I really couldn't understand something, I used a translation app to communicate with the guide. The guide was also friendly and easy to talk to! For meals, there was seafood and Vietnamese cuisine. It was neither good nor bad. Overall, it turned out to be an interesting memory! I had a great time! Thank you!!
First, the bus driver (who was also the tour guide) was incredibly enthusiastic and pleasant, always keeping us in a good mood. As for the tour itself, the cruise ship was comfortable, offering a unique experience that you wouldn't normally get. The buffet was delicious and satisfying. The rocky islands visible from the ship were imposing. The limestone cave was incredibly vast, a scale not seen in Japan, reaffirming its unique national character. Regarding the boats, the speedboat was a lot of fun, and the wind felt great; it was quite fast. For the bamboo boat or kayak option, I chose the bamboo boat. The bamboo boat holds dozens of people, and an attendant paddles it. The kayak is a two-person boat that you paddle yourself. The kayak is probably where you'll get the most wet. Some people in kayaks weren't paddling in sync and ended up bumping into other boats. At the final beach, the water was cold, and we watched the sunset. After that, we had a party on the ship's rooftop and returned while enjoying the night view. If you come to Vietnam, you should definitely do this day trip.
The tour was great! The tour guide Kimi was very nice and often had short conversations with the guests and asked if everything was going well. On the bus and on the boat, Kimi repeatedly provided information and made jokes in between. The transfer is generally pleasant, only the bus is a bit old. I would recommend the tour to everyone!
The tour was great especially our tour guide, Johnny. He was very lively all throughout and made very clever group names so that we woundn’t get lost. The places we visited were all very beautiful and unforgettable. Food was great having many selection but mostly consisted of Vietnamese cuisine. Overall, my parents and I had a blast with this tour
Our Halong Bay tour was amazing, with stunning views of limestone cliffs and emerald waters. Sung Sot Cave was breathtaking with its magical rock formations, and Ti Top Island offered a rewarding climb to a panoramic view. The boat, food, and friendly staff made the whole experience smooth and unforgettable. Plus Tour leader “Lee” made our day amazing!!! Fully recommended!
Safety: The crew was exceptionally professional, ensuring every guest’s safety from arrival until we disembarked. Value for Money: ⭐⭐⭐ Given it was peak season, the price felt justified—kayaking, cave hiking, and island visits packed into one day made it worthwhile. Attractions: ⭐⭐⭐ Hiking in Sung Sot Cave: Impressive, though crowded. Kayaking in Hang Luon Cave: A serene escape, paddling through limestone cliffs. Ti Top Island: A beautiful stop, but due to late arrival, we couldn’t hike to the view deck—still enjoyed the beach. Crowds & Patience: ⭐⭐⭐ All stops were quite crowded (peak season expected). Patience was definitely required at entry points and during activities. Service & Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Food was generous and delicious—almost overflowing! Fresh, tasty, and well-prepared. Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Great experience with minor setbacks)
