There are many types of tickets for visiting the Maori Cultural Village. We bought a package ticket from day afternoon to evening. Check in at 3:45 to collect tickets, and start the tour at 4:00. The tour guide will lead the participating teams from the language, life, handicrafts (carving, weaving), animal protection, food... of the Maori indigenous people to let tourists A brief understanding of Maori culture, which is based on educational and cultural communication as a whole, rather than for entertainment purposes, and solidly introduces their unique Maori culture and the glory of being Maori to the world. There are several important activities during the visit: 1. See the original bird at the Kiwi Bird Conservation Center, a super cute bird. (No light pollution, silent visit, no photography allowed) 2. Enter the handicraft center to visit. This is also their school, where you can see the tribesmen studying and working. Introduce various materials, tools, and production methods... 3. Art Center, where finished products are displayed and cannot be touched. Photography, photography or purchase are allowed. 4. In the outdoor geothermal fountain area, visit the landforms and plants formed over thousands of years. Visit once during the day. After all activities in the evening, return to the natural warm pit to drink chocolate and watch the fountain landscape at night. 5. Buffet dinner: The dishes are really rich, showing a high degree of sincerity in entertaining guests (even though you pay for it yourself, haha) 6. Cultural performance: Before entering the cultural performance center, a welcome ceremony is performed according to Maori customs, and then guests are invited to file in. Admission. The performance includes HOKA war dance, traditional dance music, Maori folk songs and musical instruments... After the performance, take the village shuttle bus to the geyser at night to drink hot chocolate and admire the geyser, and say goodbye to the Maori Cultural Village with a final look back. This is a very meaningful visit and worth recommending.

A very well-organized guided tour around Te Puia, where we got to see the NZ Māori arts and crafts institute and also the geothermal geysers and mud pool. This experience combines both nature and culture together.

It was nothing short of spectacular! This cultural and geothermal wonderland offered an immersive experience that beautifully showcased the rich Maori heritage alongside the stunning natural beauty of the area.
Upon arrival, I was immediately captivated by the enchanting blend of culture and nature. The geothermal activity is mesmerizing, with steaming geysers and bubbling mud pools that create a surreal landscape. The highlight was witnessing the famous Pohutu Geyser erupt—a truly unforgettable sight that exemplifies the raw power of nature.

The night geyser experience was simply amazing. The views at night are out of the world. It can get a bit cold so I would recommend layering up. It’s hard to get a cab in Rotorua at night so please plan your travel accordingly.

I have amazing time joining Geyser by the Night. It was truly enjoyable and fun by having Mr T as our tour guide. He and his "cousin" were knowledgeable on the surroundings and nice to us.

A wonderful cultural overview, thanks to Mr T and his cousins for their enthusiasm and making it a great experience. Unfortunately we didn’t see the kiwi birds and we had some rain but it didn’t ruin the well organised tour. The buffet was excellent, oysters, mussels in white sauce, a range of salads and hot food and desserts. The evening finished with a beautiful haka show.

When visiting Rotorua, experiencing the Maori Cultural Village is a must, and Te Puia is one of the most famous attractions. A guide will accompany you throughout the visit. We saw the carving school, mud pools, geysers, and kiwis. We highly recommend seeing the war dance, a spectacular performance you won't see anywhere else. The entire guided tour lasts about 90 minutes, with an additional 30 minutes for the war dance performance. Please don't be late.
