What to expect
At Kodaikokuya, you can learn about traditional Japanese lights (akari) and fragrances (kō). This is an experience featuring the light of Japanese Candles (Wa-rōsoku) and the creation of Scent Pouches (Nioi-bukuro). Japanese candles differ from Western candles in their materials and the unique flicker of their flame. After an explanation of Wa-rōsoku, you will light one and experience its distinctive illumination. Following the light experience, you can create your original fragrance by blending ancient Japanese incense ingredients to your liking. The finished Nioi-bukuro (scent pouch) can be placed in your bag or worn to enjoy the scent. After the experience, you can purchase incense and Wa-rōsoku at the shop.
